Does your Consumer Unit / Fusebox look like this in your property?

If so, you are well over due an upgrade to a more modern, up to date and more importantly a compliant Fusebox ( in last photo)⚡️

A few reasons below is to why you should consider an upgrade ;

Modern consumer units use devices called RCDs (Residual Current Devices) or RCBOs that disconnect power extremely quickly if they detect a fault. This can prevent serious electric shocks or electrocution.

Older fuse boards may:

* lack RCD protection entirely
* rely on outdated rewireable fuses
* respond too slowly to dangerous faults

Electrical faults are a major cause of house fires in the UK. Modern consumer units:

* detect overloads more accurately
* trip faster during short circuits
* isolate faulty circuits before wiring overheats

Newer metal-clad units also help contain fires internally if a fault occurs.

Consumer units should comply with the latest edition of the UK Wiring Regulations (BS 7671). A compliant installation is important for:

* landlord obligations
* home sales
* insurance requirements
* electrical installation certificates (EICRs)
