At the end of July - reached a little milestone hitting the first 7 months of my Art Psychotherapy Masters degree in Sheffield, so marking it with a post. its been pretty full on.. studying along side living, working, creating and as a requirement for the course when training attending personal therapy regularly.
Add in presentations, essays, closed group therapy training, learning new skills and ways of art making, navigating university life, learning different ways to make slime 🤣 (for real!) and the commute to conquer weekly... theres been a lot going on!

But I’ve learned heaps, challenged myself in ways I didn’t expect and met some wonderful people along the way. Hopefully, the next step will be starting placement as a trainee art therapist and beginning to put some of what I’ve learned into practice.

Slides 2–9 are a few pieces of my own work from uni, along with the art-making apron we were given at the end of our closed-group training.

The rest are some of my pics from Sheffield. I’ve absolutely loved getting to know the city — from the galleries to the constantly changing street art and all the creativity around every corner. 💛🎨

A huge thank you to Everybody Arts for giving me the opportunity to return as a resident artist for a second time.

Having the gallery space as a place to experiment, take risks and create new work has been incredibly valuable. During this residency, I used the space to explore ideas around loss and its impact — particularly the physical and emotional experience of holding tension and anxiety for long periods, far beyond what our minds and bodies are naturally built to cope with.

On the first day, I began creating with salvaged cables, cord and other discarded materials. As the days and hours passed, the materials naturally began to fray, yet they continued to hold tension, suspended from the beautiful industrial pillars throughout the residency. The changing materials became part of the work itself — reflecting the fragility, endurance and weight of what we carry.

I also used the space to experiment with the installation and positioning of existing work, responding to the natural light and the architecture of the gallery. Being able to see familiar work in a completely different environment gave me a fresh perspective and opened up new possibilities for creating and presenting pieces.

One of the most meaningful parts of the residency was inviting some of the visitors to make handprints of hope on scraps of paper. Because even in the darkest of times, we always need to find a little bit of hope and may need a helping hand. ❤️

Brought a lot of colour with us to Project C**t 🌈 on Saturday when we made a community tapestry on the railings on the front of the building! Thanks to everyone that stopped by to take part, weaving or decorating tapestry pieces telling us why you stopped by amazing Project C**t! It was a team effort thanks to Emily and Elaine for running the stalls brilliantly and Maggie for superb help with the railings 🌈💛🌟

Sunday morning we added another weave panel to our community installation outside Body Evolution Fitness! As part of the Marshian Arts trail this year! Thanks to everyone in the commumity that helped, sharing memories and stories from living, working and visiting Marsh and adding these to the panels, stopping by to chat and all who weaved with us. Still more happening this week as part of Marshian Arts Trail 2026, along with lots of work on show up and down the high street all on untill Sunday 21st June! 🎨💜

Morning everyone! I have an Art Class taking place outside in the Serenity Wellbeing Gardens at Project C**t whatever the weather on Thursday morning, 18th June 10am -12pm.

We will be drawing some of the flowers and plants, waterway and beautiful surroundings of the garden and buildings that live close by.

Had a great day on Saturday creating a tapestry on railings outside the local gym as part of trail.

We had people joinging in who were following the trail and also passers by, plaster on his way to work, peeps doing a pokemon game, couples on way back from their weekly shop! I asked everyone to write something on a thread about their experiences on living/working/visiting Marsh, so it became a living tapestry of community life.

Really fun experience ably assisted by wonderful Maggie.

Thanks to everyone that stopped by, to take part and chat with us or a quick weave stop on route! You made the day so memorable for us!

The weave will be up for the next two weeks of the art trail ending on 21st June!
