This has been one of my favourite pieces to date! It’s the largest painting I’ve made in some time, and certainly the most pigs I’ve squeezed into a single scene.

I had such a great time making it, and the pigs have so much character.

Head-on paintings have been pretty humbling for me lately (I realise this is a pig and not a person 😅)
Even so, it feels like there’s just… less to work with. No overlaps, symmetry becomes a trap, and every tiny misalignment yelling.

What helps me:
→ use light to break the symmetry
→ use brush direction to carve planes
→ mix soft + sharp edges for depth (sharpest where I want you to look)

That said… my real fail-safe is simply to turn it into a 3/4 view. Highly recommend 😂🐖

Is anyone else like this or am I alone??
