🧱 NEW FRONT GARDEN WALL COMPLETED

Another building project completed by AB Roofing in South East London.

The existing front boundary wall was removed and the area prepared ready for a complete rebuild.

✅ New double-skin brick wall built
✅ Wall ties installed throughout
✅ New brick piers constructed
✅ Soldier course finish along the top
✅ New coping stones fitted to the piers
✅ Brickwork kept level and straight throughout

Another refurbishment job completed 🔨🏠

A complete improvement to this room from start to finish, including:

✅ Insulated and plasterboarded wall
✅ Joints taped, filled and sanded ready for decorating
✅ Damaged areas around the roof window cut back and repaired

🏠 Outbuilding Roof Refurbishment Completed

Another roofing job completed by AB Roofing in Charlton .

🔨 Removed the old clay tiles from one side of the outbuilding, which had previously been mixed with concrete tiles.

🔨 Adjusted the roof pitch to improve the overall fall.

🔨 Installed new eaves support trays, breathable roofing membrane and treated timber battens.

🔨 Carefully removed and reinstalled the existing skylight.

🔨 Installed a humidity-sensing fan to help improve ventilation and reduce the risk of condensation.

🔨 Reinstalled the existing clay tiles and replaced the mismatched concrete tiles with clay tiles for a much neater, more consistent finish.

A proper refurbishment that improves both the appearance and performance of the roof while keeping as much of the original clay covering as possible.

🏠 GRP Flat Roof Replacement – Eltham

Another flat roof completed in Eltham.

Once we removed the old felt covering, we discovered the roof beneath was completely damp due to condensation. The existing insulation was also damp, and unfortunately no vapour control layer had been installed.

We stripped everything back and rebuilt the roof correctly:

🔨 Removed old felt and damp insulation
💨 Installed a new vapour control layer
🏠 Fitted new insulation
✅ All insulation joints fully foil taped
🪚 Re-boarded the complete roof
💪 Finished with a new GRP fibreglass roofing system
🧹 All waste removed and site left tidy

A good example of why the correct roof build-up is just as important as the waterproof covering on top.

Another project completed by AB Roofing ✔️

This back addition roof has been completely stripped and re-roofed to a high standard.

As the property is located within a conservation area, the existing natural slates were removed and replaced with new 24” x 12” natural slates, as agreed with the local planning authority.

Works carried out included:
• Removal of the existing natural slates
• Installation of breathable roofing membrane
• New treated roofing battens
• Over-fascia ventilation
• Eaves support trays
• New 24” x 12” natural slates
• New lead soakers
• Tile vents to improve roof ventilation

Another roof saved from premature failure.

We recently had to completely remove and replace a fibre cement slate roof that was only around 6 years old due to poor installation by a previous contractor.

The roof suffered from inadequate ventilation, which had caused significant condensation issues within the roof space. During our inspection, we discovered that all of the support rafters had been installed incorrectly. None of them properly reached the wall plate and they had only been fixed using 60mm screws, leaving the roof structure inadequately supported.

To rectify the issues, we:
✔ Installed new structural support rafters where required.
✔ Added additional strengthening supports and secured them with carriage bolts.
✔ Installed proper eaves ventilation to create airflow through the roof space.
✔ Fitted a high-quality breathable roofing membrane.
✔ Installed new treated roofing battens.
✔ Re-slated the roof with new fibre cement slates.

This is a perfect example of how poor workmanship can lead to major problems in a relatively short period of time. A roof may look fine from the ground, but hidden defects can result in condensation, structural concerns, and costly repairs.

We removed the old, damaged polycarbonate sheets from a storage shed and carried out repairs to the underlying structure, including replacing rotten joists with treated timber to match the existing framework.

The roof deck was then renewed using new 18mm OSB boards, followed by the installation of a high-performance cap sheet roofing system. To ensure a durable and watertight finish, we fitted a GRP termination strip around the perimeter.
