It’s been a busy few weeks at Whaley Electrical!

At the moment I’m in the middle of a full rewire – the nitty-gritty, dusty and dirty side of the job. Working around furniture and the challenges that come with a semi furnished property isn’t always easy, but I’ve broken the back of it now and it will be fantastic when it’s complete.

Alongside the rewire, recent jobs have included:
⚡ Fuseboard upgrades
⚡ First-fix electrics for a new extension
⚡ Wiring new smoke alarms
⚡ Diagnosing and resolving issues with storage heaters
⚡ Visiting customers and providing quotations for future projects.

‼️ Important Notice for Tiree Customers ‼️
Due to the volume of work already scheduled and to ensure I can continue providing a reliable service to existing customers. My diary for Tiree is now fully booked for 2026!

I will therefore not be taking on any new projects or enquiries for 2026 (all existing quotes and enquiries will stand). This allows me to focus on completing the work already committed to and delivering the standard of service my customers expect.

If you are considering electrical work in 2027, please feel free to get in touch. Early enquiries are welcome and I will be happy to discuss your requirements and add you to my list for future scheduling.

What is the quickest way to use over 100m of cable? 👀

Today’s workload was a busy one!

First fixed two completely different projects today, starting with this brand new office, kitchen & storage build (pictured). Plenty of cable going in on this one already and we are only just getting started!

Then onto a much smaller first fix in a garden room significantly smaller in size, but just as important to the customer and their plans for the space.

🚨 Finished the day with an emergency call out to help an islander who had lost power completely.

Busy Saturday on Tiree for Whaley Electrical ⚡️

While most of the UK seems to be enjoying a heatwave, it’s business as usual here with a full day of work underway!

This afternoon I’ve been carrying out a 1st fix on this garden studio project, working alongside Cameron Smith Landscape Contractor. I’ve been installing lighting, sockets and external lighting which is all coming together to create what will be an incredible finished space 👌

I’ve had a huge number of enquiries coming through recently for both Ely and Tiree - thank you for keeping us so busy, but please continue to bear with me while I work through them. It’s always a juggling act being out on the tools and also trying to get out to visit new jobs, but I will get back to everyone as soon as I can.

I’m currently booked pretty solid for the next month or so, but I am always happy to chat through your upcoming project and get things planned properly so everything is ready to go when the time comes.

And for my next trick… finally fitting a ceiling fan that has been sat waiting to be installed for the last 2 years 😅

Today started with an EICR and PAT testing at a large property here on Tiree, followed by a couple of smaller jobs this afternoon and visits to three customers to discuss potential upcoming works.

No matter how big or small the job is, we know it is important to you, which is why we are doing our best to work through enquiries and get back to everyone as quickly as possible.

Alongside the graft on the tools each day, there is also a huge amount of admin happening behind the scenes trying to keep on top of enquiries, quotes, bookings and paperwork.

At the moment, enquiries are coming in faster than we can keep up with. Thank you so much for your patience and support ⚡

Another heating upgrade completed this weekend🔧

We repositioned the hot water cylinder and valves from the first floor down to the external ground floor plant room, then routed new cables under the floor to reconnect all controls and switches seamlessly.

When Storm Amy hit Tiree back in October 2025, this customer lost their outbuildings completely.

Six months on, we are happy to say the electrics are now fully completed and the workshop is back up and running ⚡️🔧

This project included:
✔️ New consumer unit installed to supply power to the new outbuilding via an SWA submain.
✔️ Consumer unit fitted in the new workshop with surge protection and RCBO protection for lights and sockets.
✔️ New light fittings, switches and double sockets installed throughout.
✔️ Fully functional workshop restored and ready to use again.
