Progress Update: The Challenge Has Begun!
The challenge officially began on the evening of Thursday 30th July, as Tom Burton and Alan set off for Euston Station, kindly dropped off by George at london_commercial_waste
They then boarded the Caledonian Sleeper to Fort William, ready to take on the challenge ahead.
Day 1: The climb to the top of Ben Nevis began, with heavy rain and strong winds making the climb even tougher. But reaching the summit made it all worthwhile, with the Little Havens Children’s Hospice banner proudly represented at the top.
Day 2: An early 4am start saw them get back on the bikes, riding for around 10–12 hours towards Scafell Pike. Despite the long day in the saddle, there were plenty of big smiles along the way, alongside some stunning views.
Tom said: “We slept in a church graveyard last night, which was surprisingly uncomfortable, wet and loud!”
Day 3: Waking up at 6am in the graveyard, it was straight back on the bikes. They continued their journey towards Scafell Pike, riding for approximately 11 hours and pushing on towards the next big climb.
