A massive congratulations to the Somerset U18s on becoming ECB County Cup champions.

There’s something pretty special about seeing young players come through the ranks and achieve something they’ll remember for a long time.

Supporting the pathway means opening doors, creating opportunities and backing young talent as they develop, compete and take their next steps.

And we have to say, that Coreus logo looks pretty good on a winning shirt 🏏

Our Bristol team had a rewarding day volunteering at The Ranch in Southmead, an incredible outdoor facility run by the Southmead Development Trust that provides safe, nurturing spaces for children and young people to play.

The whole team rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in, clearing vegetation, cutting grass, weeding, litter picking, building dens and helping to make the play areas safer and more enjoyable for everyone who uses them.

It was a great opportunity to give something back to the local community, support the fantastic work taking place at The Ranch and make a real difference to a space that means so much to local children and young people.

The Ranch, Play Manager, Matt Caldwell, said:

“Running a two-acre Adventure Playground with only a handful of staff can be a challenge, and the work of volunteers is invaluable. The team from Coreus really put their backs into it and helped us do so much clearing and gardening on site that even the young people noticed! I was impressed by how well the team all worked together and that they even had the energy to manage a game of football after their volunteering!”

A huge congratulations to Jemma, who has officially become a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute!

Since joining Coreus, Jemma has played an important role across a number of projects, including The Promise School in Okehampton and Victoria House in Exeter, bringing her knowledge, commitment and care to every project she works on.

Successfully passing her Assessment for Professional Competence (APC) is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work she’s put in to reach this milestone!

As our partnership with Somerset County Cricket Club now extends to being the Club’s Official Academy & Pathway Partner, we thought we’d look back at where some of that competitive spirit began for our own team.

From friendly games of rounders and football to taking on the 30 Mile Charity Walk, our team aren’t afraid of a challenge. They enjoy pushing themselves, supporting each other and giving it everything they’ve got on the field.

Being driven and competitive is part of it, but so are teamwork, resilience and good sportsmanship. These are skills that carry through into how we work as a team and how we deliver for our clients.

Coreus Group has strengthened its long-standing relationship with Somerset County Cricket Club by becoming the Club’s Official Academy & Pathway Partner.

Supporting Somerset’s Academy and Pathway programme is a natural extension of our own Coreus Pathways programme, which equips emerging leaders with the skills, confidence and mindset to thrive. Like Somerset’s pathway, we’re committed to creating opportunities for the next generation and helping talented people reach their potential.

Since launching in 2019, we’ve built a business centred around developing people. Today, more than 70% of our team is aged between 16 and 34, over 10% are apprentices, and we’re the first construction consultancy to be recognised by The Sunday Times as the UK’s Best Workplace for 16 to 34-year-olds.

The same commitment extends beyond our business. Through the Coreus Foundation, we aim to make a meaningful impact on our local communities and have raised more than ÂŁ100,000 for projects across health, education and the environment.

Somerset CCC Commercial Director, Caroline Herbert, said: “Our Academy and Pathway programme plays a vital role in developing the talented young cricketers who represent Somerset and England in the future, and it’s fantastic to have the support of an ambitious South West business that shares our values. We’re having a busy and rewarding summer across our offices!

Over the past few weeks, it’s been a pleasure to welcome work experience students and give them the chance to explore a wide range of disciplines across the business.

From Advisory Services, Finance, and People & Culture to Building Surveying and many other teams, our students saw first hand the variety of career paths on offer, and what it’s like to work in a professional (and fun!) environment.

Supporting the next generation is one of our core values, and we’re proud to help students explore their interests, develop new skills, and picture where a career like this could take them.

A huge thank you to our work experience students for jumping straight in and bringing so much enthusiasm and engagement throughout their time with us.

From an empty department store to an award-winning civic destination, Y Storfa continues to demonstrate the transformative power of regeneration.

The project has now been recognised at two of Wales’ leading industry awards:

Led by City & County of Swansea Council and delivered by Kier Group, Y Storfa has breathed new life into the former BHS building on Oxford Street, creating a vibrant civic hub that brings together Swansea Central Library, Housing Options, Careers Wales, Citizens Advice, West Glamorgan Archive Service and other essential community services under one roof.

Working collaboratively with City & County of Swansea, Kier Group, GWP Architecture, Stantec and the wider project team, Coreus provided NEC Project Manager, NEC Supervisor, Cost Consultant, Party Wall Surveyor, Principal Designer and SKA Assessor services, helping to transform an underutilised city centre asset into a sustainable, accessible destination that will serve the Swansea community for years to come.

These awards recognise not only the quality of the finished building, but the lasting value it brings to the community through the reuse of a landmark building and the creation of a vibrant, accessible civic hub. Huge congratulations to everyone involved!

The new Britannia Mills footbridge and cycleway has officially opened, providing a lasting benefit for the Long Eaton community.

With construction beginning in January 2025 and finishing ahead of schedule, the new crossing creates a direct connection between the Britannia Mills development and the surrounding area, reducing residents’ journey across the canal by around half a mile.

Coreus provided Project Management, Quantity Surveying and Principal Designer services throughout the scheme. Working closely with stakeholders, our Birmingham team managed a phased construction programme before overseeing a single phase handover to minimise disruption to the public. We also coordinated the surveys, investigations and design development required to support the planning process.

The team also assessed multiple procurement options before successfully delivering the project through the Procure Partnerships Framework, securing competitive contractor bids and achieving excellent value for money.

Speaking about the opening, Erewash Borough Council Leader, Councillor James Dawson, described the bridge as a “tremendous time-saver” for local people. Richard Ledger, Chair of the Long Eaton Town Deal Board, added: “The now thriving community at Britannia Mills will be overjoyed to make use of this new bridge. It halves the previous mile-long distance between canal crossings.”
