Don't panic - Yesterday's eclipse poses no threat to the grid, says the UK’s solar industry. The impact will be predictable, manageable and is of no cause for concern.

As the eclipse will occur in the evening, only a limited amount of solar generation will be lost – in the order of 0.5-0.8 gigawatts at the height of the event. The amount is comparable to the solar generation expected in the middle of winter’s afternoon, a fraction of Tuesday’s solar peak of 14.5GW.
