As the world gathers in Azerbaijan for , we continue to innovate and accelerate the deployment of renewable energy.

Together with our partners at Infinis, we are helping to reach by utilising brownfield land for solar development, taking advantage of existing grid connections and utilising land that is often unsuitable for most other types of development.

Don't just take our word for it. You can see for yourself how our brownfield solar expertise is helping with the just transition to clean energy in Power Shift: The Renewable Energy Revolution, a news-style programme produced by ITN Business and hosted by Lukwesa Burak.

Ever wondered what criteria renewable energy companies look for when considering land potential for a renewable energy project?

We have collated some of the most commonly asked questions that we receive from landowners who want to lease their land for a renewable energy project.

Today, let’s look at what make a site suitable for a renewable energy development.

There are a few basic elements that we consider first when assessing land for a potential renewable energy development:

• Typically, the area should be between 50-200 acres.
• It should be relatively flat.
• It should ideally be surrounded by hedges and trees and a good distance from residential property.
• It should not be in a valued landscape or near historic buildings.
• It should be near overhead electricity cables and within 2KM of a grid connection point (e.g. a substation).
• It should have access from a main road suitable for HGVs.

If you’re ready to take the next step and discuss the suitability of your land, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our expert team.

We are extremely proud to be fundraising for our chosen charity, Children's Hospice South West and supporting their incredible work.

Throughout the year, we'll be running a number of fundraising events in our offices and around our construction sites. Our is to raise over £15,000 for this worthy cause! We're already at 5% of that target, but it's still a long way to go.

Children's Hospice South West provides help and support to children and families living with life-limiting conditions. The running of the charity and upkeep of the three grounds in which they operate cost around £11million each year, relying almost entirely on donations and contributions.

For more information about Children's Hospice South West, visit their website: https://lnkd.in/gb2tsVkH

Keep your eyes peeled for updates on our fundraising efforts and, should you wish to make a donation, please head to our Just Giving Page:

We've been featured in Tamarindo's list of key players driving the UK energy storage deployment in 2024, amongst other noteworthy developers and installers.

Ethical Power is one of the leaders in design and installations of battery energy storage systems in the UK. With an independent connection provider (ICP) in house, we can execute the complete range of services around BESS, efficiently and always to the highest standard.

Our global BESS development pipeline now exceeds 1GW+. We are excited to get these projects off the ground over the next few years, contributing to a sustainable energy infrastructure deployment in the UK and worldwide.

Battery storage capacity in the UK is set to surge between now and the end of the decade. A study published last year showed that capacity would increase more than ten-fold from 2.1GW to 24GW during the period 2023 to 2030. Huge amounts of capital will be deployed in the sector, with forecasts indic...

Introducing Environmental Conversations. In this series, we will explore topics surrounding nature, environment, sustainability and climate. Starting the series, we'll look at actions taken within the 30 by 30 Pledge to combat climate change and protect our green spaces and oceans.

The 30 by 30 pledge was agreed in December 2022 at a COP15 meeting promising to protect a third of their land and oceans for nature by 2030. The extended nature conservation efforts were proposed as one of the means to help mitigate climate change. With only 7 years to go, how has the UK managed against the ambitious target?

In truth, not a lot of progress has been made and the target will not be reached by 2030 if we remain on the current trajectory.

In the ‘2023 Progress Report on 30x30 in England’ issued by the Wildlife and Countryside Link (WCL), we read that currently only 3.11% of land and 8% of our sea is protected for wildlife - a long way from what is required to reach our target.

The WCL also contacted DEFRA, the government department responsible for action on the pledge, asking for evidence that progress is being made but they’ve had no response.

Elsewhere, in an assessment of the UK’s nature habitats and species, the ‘State of nature’ report, it was found that only one in seven of the UK’s habitats for wildlife are in good condition, including only 7% of woodland and 25% of peatland.

However, there are some small steps being taken.

An Environmental Improvement Plan is being implemented in England. This plan aims to restore 500,000 hectares of wildlife habitats across England and also wants to ensure that everyone is within a 15-minute walk of a green space or water.

Are we on track to meeting the 30 by 30 target? It looks like we still have a long way to go. Some progress is being made and it seems that intentions are there to make more happen but only time will tell if we can hit our target.

What nature conservation initiatives would you say have led to the most significant change in 2023?

It is with great excitement and pride that we present to you today our refreshed brand identity!

Our new branding captures Ethical Power as we are today, with renewed energy and continued commitment to excellence, as leaders in renewable energy.

The new logo represents our evolution, built on the previous concept, but now including all our focus sectors and capabilities in a more contemporary and dynamic way. Composed of three abstract elements representing solar, BESS and grid connections, our logo was designed to also suggest reflection on the environment and natural elements. The shapes merge to form a mark, subtly depicting the letters ‘e’ and ‘p’.

In 2010, we started our journey to become the UK’s only fully vertically integrated renewable energy company. With a firm focus on driving progress and excellence in delivery, we scaled our operations and expanded our capabilities.

Today, Ethical Power is a global business with operations spanning 3 continents and a strong foothold across the entire solar and BESS project lifecycle. Our teams develop, install, connect and operate the highest quality systems.

Our ambition is to do even more, as we unapologetically work towards a brighter, cleaner, and more sustainable future.

We eagerly look forward to new opportunities and what 2024 holds for Ethical Power - we’ll be sharing more exciting news with you shortly!
