It’s been a busy time with planning approvals — and here’s another project we’re excited to see get underway.

Located in West Devon, this scheme secured full planning permission for the demolition and replacement of an existing cob and stone barn with a new barn style home.

The design blends locally sourced Devon stone with traditional charred timber cladding, creating a strong connection to both the landscape and the character of the original building. The form takes inspiration from a traditional barn, while introducing more contemporary detailing throughout.

Large areas of glazing will create an easy connection to the garden and countryside beyond, bringing in views and maximising natural light. Arranged across two storeys, the new home will provide generous family living spaces perfectly suited to modern life in the heart of Devon.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us last week to learn about recent changes to Building Regulations, which was attended by over 20 local builders and contractors.👷🏼‍♂️

The session was led by Scott Adams, Operations Group Leader at Devon Building Control, alongside Richard Harris at Peninsular Energy. Together, they shared valuable guidance on the recent changes to Building Regulations, the introduction of the Building Safety Act, and the evolving responsibilities of those involved in the design and construction process.

The changes introduced following Grenfell have had a significant impact on the industry, making it more important than ever for architects, consultants, contractors, and clients to understand their roles and obligations throughout a project.

It was fantastic to see so many people come together to discuss these important changes, ask questions, and share experiences. The event was incredibly well received, and we're grateful to Scott, Richard, and everyone who took the time to attend. We're already looking forward to hosting the next one!

As an Architectural practice, we're passionate about sharing knowledge and helping both industry professionals and clients navigate the complexities of construction. Alongside events like these, we have a range of guides and information booklets available for anyone considering a building project - please do get in touch if you would like any of our information.📝

Thanks to for sharing some of snaps from the day!

A final look for now inside our Westwood Heights project, where the double-height hallway was designed around a full height aluminium window that floods the space with natural light and draws in the surrounding greenery from outside.

The cantilevered staircase is one of many striking features within this ultra-contemporary home. Oak stairs bring warmth and a subtle connection to the landscape beyond, while the glass balustrade allows light to move freely throughout the space.

Clean lines and contemporary materials reflect the overall architectural style of the house, creating a calm and elegant interior.

Back at our recently completed Westwood Heights project, with views inside the open-plan kitchen and living space.

Set in an elevated position, the layout was carefully designed to make the most of the outlook from every angle.

Large minimal-framed picture windows run alongside the kitchen cabinetry, creating a strong connection to the surrounding landscape, while bifold doors open onto the raised terrace for an easy flow outdoors during the warmer months. Throughout the year, the glazing keeps the home closely connected to the greenery beyond, bringing natural light into the living space.

The interiors were designed with a minimal palette that complements the clean architectural lines of the building and allows the surrounding nature to remain the focus.

A first glimpse of our Westwood Heights project, with images captured by .helme.

This was a major transformation, with the finished home almost unrecognisable from the chalet bungalow that previously stood on the site (swipe to see the before!).

Set on a beautiful elevated plot in East Devon, the design was shaped around creating a strong connection to the surrounding landscape and making the most of the incredible woodland views. The main living spaces sit above the garage, allowing both the ground and first floors to fully benefit from the position and outlook.

Externally, the house takes on a bold contemporary character, combining steel cladding to the upper level with soft render at ground floor level. A stone wall wrapping around the garage helps anchor the building into its natural setting.

Clean lines and large expanses of glazing to both the front and rear flood the interiors with light while strengthening the connection between the home and nature.

A project we’re incredibly proud of — and a great example of the potential these amazing plots can offer.

More to come from this project over the coming days 👀

Views from our Ferryside project today, looking out across the estuary from inside this striking replacement dwelling in Topsham.

Originally designed as a remodel, the project later evolved into a full replacement dwelling, allowing us to completely reimagine the home and make the most of the incredible waterfront setting. As well as leading the design and technical package, our team also oversaw the construction phase of the project.

The house was designed to complementand withstand the coastal environment, combining local stone, timber cladding, and contemporary aluminium glazing. Tall windows maximise the estuary views while bringing a clean contemporary feel that still works naturally within the surrounding landscape.

Inside, the design focuses on creating a strong connection to the outdoors, with large expanses of glazing framing the views from throughout the home and filling the interior spaces with natural light.

Another special project in Topsham for our team - and one where we later went on to design the neighbouring Nab project too.

Thrilled to have secured planning permission for this luxury new-build project in Teignbridge.🎉

The site was previously home to a tired bungalow in a state of disrepair (see the last image!), and we were able to justify a 750 sqm replacement dwelling within this rural setting.

Having previously achieved planning approval for a completely different design on the site, our client decided to return to the drawing board - increasing both the budget and ambition for the project. We were, of course, very happy to help bring that vision to life.

We are now progressing the technical design package ahead of construction and building regulations approval, and we can’t wait to see this one move forward.

Huge congratulations to our wonderful Freya for completing the London Marathon two weeks ago today - we are seriously impressed and proud of you! 🏃‍♀️✨

The conditions were perfect, and from the photos it looks like Freya took it all in with the biggest smile on her face, as always.

Freya ran in aid of the and has raised over £2,000 so far for a charity very close to her heart. The trust does incredible work, giving young people aged 8–24 the chance to take part in sailing and outdoor adventures while helping them believe in a brighter future beyond cancer.

You can still sponsor Freya - and we know she would appreciate every donation, no matter the amount. Please see the link below 💛
