Case study: Bar and Reception roller shutters at Sandford Holiday Park, Poole, Dorset.

Over the years we have installed shutters on the groundskeepers’ buildings, as well as all the bars and cafes in the park. One of the more challenging bars we secured was the main one in the reception area. This area is a large open space that's also used as a lounge and games area, and so Sandford Parks wanted to keep it as open as possible.

If we had put shutters around the whole bar area it would have taken away from the open look and the shutters would have stuck out past the bar and reception.

So the decision was made to only cover the main bar and Costa Coffee shop with roller shutters. We ended up fitting lightweight, manually operated, aluminium roller shutters (from our K25 aluminium roller shutter range) with removable posts.

Ivybridge Rugby Club wanted to be able to use their bar area for social events and meetings outside of rugby matches. However, because the bar can also serve alcohol, regulations prevented the club from doing so. We worked with the club to install cost effective bar roller shutters. These close off the bar when it's not in use, allowing Ivybridge RFC to open their clubhouse to other meetings and social events.

The main challenge was to fit bar shutters into an existing bar without it costing Ivybridge Rugby Club more money by having to adjust and redecorate the bar. This was achieved, even having the two shutters on the ninety-degree angle facing in on each other. The space was limited above the bar, but by having the end plates one on top of the other we could get the shutters into the limited space available.

Roller shutter case study Sidmouth College
We work in schools, colleges and universities across the Southwest, and so HVP were a logical choice to do the shutter works at Sidmouth College. Next to fitting a fire shutter within the school's main kitchen area, we also provided three K25 aluminium shutters to the main dining area.

Sidmouth College on Primley Road wanted to be able to emply the dining area for other uses throughout the day, and for this they wanted to be able to close off the servery area when not in use. To achieve this, we fitted three K25 electrically operated shutters at the front of the main servery area.

The K25 is a cost-effective, light-weight, aluminium roller shutter that rolls up into a small box. We installed three separate shutters between the pillar, and each one operates individually for maximum flexibility.

We were asked by one of the holiday parks in Weston super Mare to fit a shutter to one of their workshops and storage areas. They had a slightly unusual situation, because there was no power to the building and the front was the only way in and out. Usually there's a second entrance or personnel door, but in this case there wasn't.

We've been supplying and installing roller shutters for over 30 years, and so our clients can count on our experience with a wide range of scenarios. Here the answer was to fit a manual chain operated roller shutter with a wicket door. The door can be locked separately from the roller shutter and allows people to go in and out while the shutter remains closed. So it allows for access to the building, but - being part of the shutter - also lets the whole width of the building to be utilised when the roller shutter is opened.

The shutter was five metres wide by three metres high and the client chose to have it powder coated olive green to blend in a little with its surroundings. See the photos below for more info.

New Residential Bungalow was a high end development so it was a natural choice to have HVP Shutters fit the external roller shutters.
