PWS - Precious Washers Stafford Ltd
Last week was one of those weeks where everything was full throttle. I was frantically trying to get all my patio and driveway work completed before heading off to New York and then sailing home to Southampton on board the magnificent Queen Mary 2 with Caroline.
When I get back, it’s straight into two solid weeks of work with patios, driveways and a major clearance project for a large pest control company. So, in between jobs, I fuelled up, connected the tap line, got the pressure hose out, prepared the chemicals, carried out all my safety checks, checked the fire extinguishers and got suited up in my waterproofs. I turned the key… nothing. Tried again… nothing.
After speaking to PWS, we couldn’t diagnose the problem and the last option seemed to be a trip from Hampshire to Stafford, leaving the unit there and collecting it 12 days later. Not ideal.
I made the drive in under three hours and was sorting out a hotel when, at 8.30pm, Darren pulled into the car park. He’d driven up from Chelmsford and without hesitation said:
“Don’t book your hotel, mate. Let’s have a look.”
Forty minutes later he’d found the problem – a loose battery connection – sorted a few other little snagging issues and before I knew it I was hammering back down the M6 to Hampshire.
The following day I cleaned the van, tidied everything up, re-sanded a few drives and the next morning Caroline and I flew to New York. We’ve had a wonderful trip and it’s been made even better knowing that when I get home on Wednesday, my rig will be ready and raring to go on Thursday morning.
Thanks, Darren.
In business, equipment can break and problems happen, but attitude is everything. It is truly inspiring to know that I have someone behind me who genuinely cares, understands what it’s like to run a business and appreciates the pitfalls that come with it.
Service doesn’t stop at 5pm. Real support turns up at 8.30pm and says, “Let’s have a look.”
That’s priceless.
