Making the most of every inch of space!

This recent project was a bespoke understairs storage unit, designed and built to make use of what would otherwise be wasted space.

It includes:

✔️ A full-height cupboard for larger household items
✔️ A large pull-out drawer with internal shelving
✔️ A design made to fit the space perfectly

Every home is different, which is why all of my storage projects are built to suit each customer’s needs.

🚪 Check out these gorgeous pre-finished oak doors I recently installed.

Finished with antique brass ironmongery, the combination works beautifully and gives the doors a really warm, traditional feel.

One of the doors needed something a little different, so I was able to alter it on site and convert it into a stable door, while keeping the same style, proportions and finish as the rest of the doors.

A nice example of how a bit of bespoke carpentry can make a standard product work perfectly for the customer’s home.

🔨 Plenty of variety at Steward Carpentry lately!

It’s been a busy couple of weeks with lots of different jobs on the go, from the bigger finishing projects right down to those awkward little jobs that still need doing properly.

Recently I’ve been working on:

✅ Vinyl click flooring
✅ Internal door installations
✅ New skirting boards & architraves
✅ Bespoke pipe boxing
✅ Oak doors & finishing carpentry
✅ External timber doors

I really enjoy the variety of what I do. One day it might be fitting a new oak door, the next laying a floor or making a bespoke boxing to neatly hide pipework.

We opted not to change the posts as the new patio was laid around them, and everything is to be painted anyway.

One of my latest staircase transformations…

The original painted softwood balustrade was removed and replaced with a bespoke solid oak staircase, giving the whole hallway a completely new look.

We also worked around the existing understairs storage so everything blended together perfectly.

I really enjoy projects like this because they completely transform a home.

This bespoke desk and storage unit was designed and built for a customer’s craft room, making full use of an awkward sloping ceiling that would otherwise have been wasted space.

Brand new pre finished oak doors installed in Fareham!

I removed the existing 6 panel moulded doors, that had been driving my customers mad, when some rattled and others wouldn’t shut, and replaced them with pre finished solid core oak doors fitted with satin chrome ironmongery. I even reduced the height of one door for the under stairs cupboard by removing the bottom rail, trimming the door to size and re installing the bottom rail again to keep all the proportions correct.

Another staircase refurbishment completed by Steward carpentry

We’ve recently given this staircase a fresh, modern look by replacing the old balustrade with a brand-new bespoke oak system.

🔨 This project included:
🔨New solid oak newel posts
🔨New solid oak handrails
🔨Stylish black metal spindles for a contemporary finish
🔨 Oak veneered MDF cladding to the stair strings and apron, creating a seamless, high-end appearance

The combination of natural oak and black metal really modernises the space while keeping it warm and timeless. It’s amazing how much of a difference a staircase upgrade can make to the overall feel of a home.
