Bricked up a window above a glass roof.
Cut out the arch and red bricks and toothed in ready to brick up in second hand yellow stock bricks.

Repointing Tip - Brick Spalling - Lime Mortar vs Cement Mortar

Always use the correct mortar when repointing your brickwork. Time and time again I see cement mortar used on Imperial Red Rubber Bricks and it is extremely damaging. Red Rubber Bricks are used most commonly on Victorian properties.

Cement mortar is harder than the soft red brick meaning the water disperses differently and expands differently in winter. This results in what we call Brick Spalling, which basically destroys the face of the brick.

Lime mortar is the traditional material used when repointing soft bricks. It will allow your bricks to breath and expand in all weathers and looks beautiful when done properly. It may be a more expensive product but it will save you thousands of pounds in the long run.
