Thinking about switching to a heat pump but wondering what the installation actually looks like? 👀

This is a great example of a recent installation by UK Renewables.

The old heating system was removed and replaced with a Vaillant aroTHERM plus air source heat pump, carefully positioned outside the property with the pipework and components installed neatly around the existing building.

For us, it’s not just about fitting the heat pump.

We look at the heat loss of the property, required flow temperatures, radiator/UFH requirements, pipework, hot water demand and system hydraulics before deciding how the system should be designed.

The result? A heating system that’s designed around the home and the people living in it, rather than simply installing a heat pump and hoping for the best.

A compact installation with a big impact! 👌

We recently completed the installation of a 4kW Grant Aerona R290 air source heat pump paired with a 180-litre slimline hot water cylinder—the perfect solution where space is at a premium.

With a tight airing cupboard, we carefully planned the installation, locating some of the system components in the loft to maximise the available space while keeping everything neat, accessible and fully compliant.

To top it all off, we were treated to an unexpected flypast from the Farnborough Air Show as fighter jets roared overhead during the install! ✈️

Another home now benefiting from lower carbon heating, improved efficiency and lower running costs.

🌿 Another successful heat pump installation completed by UK Renewables! 👏

This project included the installation of a Grant Aerona³ R290 12kW air source heat pump along with a 210-litre hot water cylinder, replacing an old LPG boiler and hot water cylinder with a modern, energy-efficient heating system.

To ensure the system continues to perform at its very best, we’ve also installed our Heat Pump Monitoring System, allowing us to remotely monitor performance, optimise efficiency, and identify any potential issues before they become a problem. Giving our customers complete peace of mind. 📊

UK Renewables – Keeping homes comfortable all year round. ❄️🔥

Another high-quality renewable heating installation completed by UK Renewables. 💚

This project involved the installation of a Grant Aerona R290 air source heat pump alongside a new Grant hot water cylinder, delivering a highly efficient, future-ready heating and hot water system.

As part of the upgrade, we relocated the hot water cylinder from the first-floor airing cupboard into the loft. This freed up valuable storage space within the home while creating a cleaner, more practical plant layout without compromising system performance.

We also replaced six radiators, with every new radiator connected using TBOE (Top/Bottom Opposite End) pipework. Unlike traditional same-end connections, TBOE encourages the heating water to travel across the full width of the radiator before returning to the system. This provides a more even surface temperature, improves heat distribution throughout the room, and helps maximise the efficiency of low-temperature heating systems such as air source heat pumps.

To finish the installation, each radiator was fitted with flow-setting radiator valves. These allow us to accurately set the design flow rate through every individual radiator during commissioning, ensuring each emitter receives exactly the right amount of water. The result is a perfectly balanced system, improved comfort, quieter operation, and optimum heat pump efficiency—allowing the heat pump to achieve its best possible performance throughout the heating season.

Every installation we complete is carefully designed, commissioned and optimised to ensure our customers get the maximum efficiency, comfort and long-term reliability from their renewable heating system.
