Unboxing and configuration for a 10 camera system across 1 house and 4 outbuildings

A 10 access point Ubiquiti Unifi home system in a very large property suffering from slow and total drop offs of WiFi in several areas

We have this system on our cloud controller and was able to carry out several adjustments to rule out other issues such as channel congestion, channels conflicting with RADAR, WiFi strength per end point device and other factors

Ping tests proved the structured cabling is unstable and needs renewing but as it’s buried in the walls down to the basement we will revisit to run some new cabling around either side of the house from the incoming fibre line supplied by Gigaclear and bypass the basement entirely

Faulty RJ11 cable running from downstairs to upstairs and line speed slow

A good opportunity to sort out a few issues to improve the set up

Disconnected the obsolete extensions that were wired into the master socket

No power at the master socket so we’ve run a 2 gang socket to connect the router on a new short RJ11 cable and the cordless landline phone

The WiFi now works much better as it’s central to the house

Site survey of an existing Dahua installation in need of relocating to another part of the house and one of the cameras will need replacing due to weather exposure

A wall mounted rack will tidy this up on a revisit

After tracing the cabling to a dusty network switch on the roof the RJ45 module was replaced and numbered

A couple of faults rectified after some diagnostics

A faulty outdoor motion sensor replaced with a photocell sensor to keep the lights on overnight

A switched fused spur tested with a multimeter to prove a continuity fault which was affecting the under cupboard LED light transformer from operating
