Did you know concrete barriers can be supplied in custom colours? 🎨

Standard grey isn’t always the best fit for every site.

Painted barriers can help improve visibility, separate different site zones or simply create a cleaner, more professional finish that aligns with company branding.

At Maltaward, barrier painting is completed in-house before delivery, with full 360-degree coverage available in a range of custom colours.

That means barriers can arrive on site already finished and ready to position, avoiding the additional time and disruption of painting them after installation.

From high-visibility finishes to corporate colour schemes, it’s a simple way to make concrete barriers work harder for the site they’re protecting.

Who’s checking your property when everyone else is away? 🔐

Holiday periods and temporary shutdowns can mean commercial properties and sites are occupied less frequently than usual.

If a building is going to be left empty, simply locking the doors may not address every potential access point.

Before leaving a property unattended, it is worth checking:

Are doors and windows properly secured?
Can vehicles gain unauthorised access to the site or surrounding land?
Is the perimeter adequately protected?
Does CCTV cover the areas most vulnerable to intrusion?
Can authorised contractors still access the property when required?

For many properties, the strongest approach combines several layers of protection rather than relying on one security measure alone.

Maltaward provides vacant property solutions including CCTV, steel security doors and screens, concrete barriers and temporary fencing for sites across the UK.

The summer holidays are an ideal opportunity for schools to tackle outdoor maintenance before pupils return.

Clear, well-planned markings can make playgrounds, car parks and pedestrian areas easier and safer to navigate, while colourful playground designs can also turn outdoor spaces into areas for play, sport and learning.

A few things worth checking before the new term:

✅ Are playground games and sports markings still clear?
✅ Do pedestrian routes need refreshing?
✅ Are disabled and parent-and-child parking bays clearly identified?
✅ Could unused playground space be put to better use with new markings?

Maltaward works with schools and education authorities to provide playground and line marking, with bespoke colours and designs available alongside traditional sports courts and play markings.

Proud to support a fantastic cause!

Maltaward was pleased to support the Stansted team taking part in the LDN London Dragon Boat Race fundraiser.

Despite wet and windy conditions, the team completed the race and raised an impressive £1,563.

Their efforts contributed towards more than £24,000 raised on the day for Learning Disability Network London, helping the charity continue its important work supporting learning-disabled people and their families across London.

Although the team did not quite bring home the win, their fundraising achievement and determination made the event a great success.

Congratulations to everyone who took part, volunteered, donated and supported the event.

🧱 Choosing the right concrete barrier starts with understanding the site

Not every concrete barrier serves the same purpose.

Some are designed to control vehicle access. Others provide heavy-duty perimeter protection, support temporary fencing or help manage traffic around live construction environments.

Maltaward supplies a wide range of concrete barrier solutions, including:

Interlocking concrete blocks
Kentledge blocks
Jersey barriers
Temporary Vertical Concrete Barriers
5-tonne concrete blocks

The right choice will depend on the level of security required, the available space, site access and whether the barriers need to be repositioned later.

Our experienced team can help assess the requirement and recommend a practical solution for hire or purchase, with specialist delivery available nationwide.

Busy summer projects often need more space, better organisation and safer material storage.

Concrete bin blocks provide a practical way to create temporary outdoor storage bays for loose materials such as aggregates, sand, soil and fill materials.

They can help keep busy working areas better organised, separate materials clearly and support safer site layouts during periods of increased activity.

Maltaward supplies concrete bin blocks for hire or purchase, with options suitable for temporary and longer-term project requirements.

🚧 Urgent highway protection at Hendford Hill, Yeovil.

After prolonged wet weather contributed to unstable ground beside a live carriageway, Maltaward was contacted on a Friday afternoon to help protect the affected section of highway.

By Tuesday morning, crews were on site.

Over the next three days, 240 linear metres of temporary concrete barrier protection were installed to help safeguard road users from further slope movement and falling debris.

Fast mobilisation. Practical protection. A safe response to a challenging highway location.

Need temporary concrete barrier protection for a highway, infrastructure project or urgent safety requirement?
