Dear Friends,
I shall be closing my shop in Hamilton Road on the 31st of this month. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the hundreds of customers that I have had over the last 44 years of trading, the many comments and the congratulations on my windows, especially the Christmas ones, which funnily enough, never won best window, but it was always my intention to win smiles, not prizes! I shall continue to work behind the scenes in my workshop, so I will still be contactable and my trading accounts will remain open. I will still be able to supply curtains, blinds and of course, the name of the game - Upholstery. The shop itself will close, but I can't just stop doing things. I think that is a bad thing to do. Yes, I will be slowing down and enjoying some time with my wife and family and my new grandson.
I worked out that if you add up all the years of Retail my Grandfather (who started during the war 1944), Father and myself
have had in Hamilton road, it's 130 this year. I was born in Hamilton road and my father died in Hamilton road. I am supremely proud to have served the fine people of Felixstowe.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank some of the main families of the Town who have been with me since almost day 1 - The Threadwell family, the Manning's, Mr & Mrs Davis, Fludgers Hotel & more recently LOCA. Also places further afield - Seckford Hall, Ipswich Transport Museum, the Royal Academy of Music, the Victoria & Albert Museum and many, many more. It has been so incredibly rewarding to help people out over my 44 years as an Upholsterer. I'm sure I will miss a lot of the banter and laughter and being known as the Basil Fawlty of Retail. The main person I would like to thank is my amazing wife who has been behind the scenes, encouraging me, helping me and keeping things on track, so I'm really looking forward to spending a lot more time with her, although I'm not sure she will be quite as enthused at having me under her feet, causing chaos.
On that basis, I have rejoined the soon to be sensational Felixstowe golf club with its new Clubhouse and views across the Deben estuary. I am hoping that everyone who has visited Saxon has some wonderful times with their own families and hopefully some
of them are sitting comfortably on some of the work that I've done over the years.
Genuinely from the bottom of my heart.....Thank you all
Clive x
