Isn't this weather amazing? I mean, some folks pay a fortune to fly overseas to enjoy this kind of sunshine and we're currently being treated to beautiful blue skies, warm temperatures and long balmy evenings.
Anyhow, what I really want to chat about is how you can make the most of your garden in glorious weather.
Any garden has the potential to feel like a luxurious holiday venue IF you know how to make it feel more inviting. Even if life gets in the way of spending the whole day relaxing outside, your outdoor space can be the perfect way to unwind for a few moments.
First up - get rid of unsightly clutter - that broken bike, those half-empty compost bags, the table with the missing leg and the stained top.....you know the type of thing.
Next - trim the edges of the lawn and sweep those paths and patios. These little touches make the whole space feel more manicured and loved.
Now take notice of where the sunny spots are and how they move around during daylight hours. Try to create an inviting seating area (or two!) so that you can take advantage of sun (or shade) at the time of day that suits you best. So maybe a bistro table and chairs for breakfast in the sunshine, a comfy sofa or a hammock to enjoy mid-afternoon shade, and perhaps an outdoor dining area for your evening meal. Don't forget to add lighting so that you can make the most of the more comfortable temperatures when the sun starts to dip.
A stylish pergola or covered seating area is irrisistable in almost any weather. Position it so that you have a great view from inside it and then use bunting, cushions, tableware etc to really personalise it. Training climbing plants over a shelter will create a cosy bower sheltered from hot sun, drizzle and chilly breezes. You could even create a covered walkway, a veranda or a cloister to help you enjoy the garden in comfort.
Worried about uneven surfaces and trip hazards? That's something that our team can fix for you. You'll only need to do it once (we build things to last!) and you'll feel far more confident about being outdoors.
