We recently returned to Stowbridge to complete the last garage raft foundation for … because the first one wasn’t quite big enough 😅

Excavated down to suitable ground, filled with hardcore to formation level, then installed the shuttering and reinforcement ready for the pour.

Another one ticked off the list ✔️

• 80m³ of concrete pumped and finished to a perfect level
• internal & external foul drainage install.

Built right from the ground up! And hopefully a few more like this coming our way

Burnham Norton ✅

Another job completed for May Construction — this was one of those projects that perfectly proves you never know what’s buried underground.

The job originally started as a small porch and hallway extension on traditional strip foundations, but as soon as ground was broken it was discovered that the house and garden wall had no foundations. Not only that, a well was found directly where the new strip foundations needed to go, so it was back to the structural engineer for revised plans.

That’s when we got the call to undertake the underpinning works. The project included installing 3 × 3.6m concrete lintels beneath the house, moving existing service ducting, installing a reinforced concrete slab, completing traditional oversite, and constructing a new soakaway with associated drainage.

Underpinning wasn’t the easiest task, with some foundations needing to go 2.2m deep, and in places the only way to excavate was by hand. but a tricky job successfully completed.

And after all that, the site was left clean, tidy, and ready for the bricklayers to crack on, exactly how we like to leave every job. 👊

Recently completed this new cobble apron on our Denver project.

Attention to detail at every stage is what sets a build apart, and this apron is just one piece of a much bigger picture. Once all stages of this project are complete, it’s going to be an absolute showstopper of a home.

🎉 3 Years of Next Gen 🎉

Today marks 3 years in business for Next Gen, and it’s something I’m incredibly proud of.

Over the past 3 years, we’ve had the privilege of working with many great builders and developers, with plenty more conversations happening about future projects. Seeing the business continue to grow and new opportunities open up is something I’m truly grateful for.

We are constantly reinvesting into the business to make our processes quicker, smoother, and most importantly deliver better quality for our customers.

At any one time, we consistently have 2–3 active jobs running, and that consistency comes down to the trust our customers place in us.

We’re lucky to work with some of the best customers any business could ask for, along with many other great businesses we collaborate with along the way.

Most importantly, this business wouldn’t be what it is without the team. Each year the team grows, and each year I become prouder to say we’ve got some of the best lads around. committed, professional, and always ready to get the job done right.

Next Gen is a business I’m proud of and one that younger me would be proud of too. Next gen wasn’t an idea it was a dream.

None of it has come easy by any means, it all comes down to relentless hard work, sacrifices and dedication.

Last week Chris and Kieran completed these new block paved parking areas and as always the lads did a cracking job.

Clean lines, solid finish, and another project ticked off the list, straight on to the next one! 💪

When Ryan at RGR gave me a call, he said, “How’s it going boi, I’ve got a workshop to build, raft foundation, a few sheets of steel, a couple of cubes of concrete, needs to be done ASAP.”

I said, “Yep, not a problem we’ll get it done, no bother.”

Well… he forgot to mention it was over 100m² and bigger than most bungalows! 😅

Nevertheless, we got it done a proper joint effort with everyone involved. Great teamwork working alongside and to deliver it right.

Three companies coming together to get it done properly and perfectly 👌

A tidy upgrade for this property 👌

We installed timber sleeper edging, aluminium fencing, and a small slabbed area for feature to site on, to help shape the garden and create a defined space.

We’ll be back soon to finish the project with artificial grass, which will completely transform this area into a low-maintenance garden.

The Next Gen family has grown a bit bigger! Baby Alec made an early arrival on 25/11 a month earlier than expected. We are proud as punch to welcome the little man and cannot wait to watch him grow up and get on a shovel or in the digger.

A massive thank you to Jedd and Chris for keeping the wheels turning and continuing to push jobs along, and also to James JL engineering for attending some site visits on my behalf at short notice, allowing me the time needed with our family.
