62m² of limestone-effect porcelain — Farnham 🤩

What a transformation this one has been!

I’ve been on this project since Friday last week, starting with latex screeding the entire floor to get the surface perfectly prepared and ready for tiling.

From there, 62 square metres of 900 × 600mm flagstone-effect limestone porcelain tiles have gone down, creating a seriously impressive floor with loads of impact.

It’s been a big job, but seeing it all come together today has made it absolutely worth it. The scale of this floor really doesn’t come across until you see it in person.

Really happy with the finished result — and even better, so is the client! 👌

Time-lapse video 🎥

Today on a 62m² floor project in Farnham, I tiled just over 30m² in the kitchen area.

The tiles are a beautiful 900 x 600mm bevelled-edge, flagstone-effect porcelain, which are already making a huge difference to the space.

Looking forward to getting this one completed! Tomorrow we’ll be continuing with the rest of the kitchen, followed by latex screeding in the hallway and utility room.

Wednesday and Thursday will be spent tiling the utility room and hallway, before finishing up on Friday with grouting using BAL MicroMax Natural Light.

62m² Floor Project — Wrecclesham, Farnham

Started this 62m² floor in Wrecclesham, near Farnham, today.

The first stage has been preparing the areas where the previous kitchen units had been. These sections had no existing tiles, so we’ve used S1 flexible adhesive and insulation boards to build the floor up to the correct height and match the existing porcelain tiles.

The customer decided against uplifting the existing porcelain floor because there is electrical underfloor heating underneath, and they didn’t want to risk damaging it during the removal process.

Instead, we’re latex screeding directly over the existing porcelain tiles before installing the new floor.

This method is only suitable because the existing floor is completely sound, solid and stable, with anti-fracture matting already installed underneath.

For this installation we’re using BAL Level Plus latex screed, which, as far as we’re aware, is the only latex screed currently available that allows you to apply the screed directly over existing porcelain floor tiles before tiling over it again with porcelain.

We’re leaving the screed and insulation boards to fully dry and cure over the weekend. Then we’ll be starting the main tiling works — 62m² of 900 x 600mm porcelain flagstone-effect tiles.

The aim is to have the whole floor completed by Friday.

Bathroom Project 🛁

Just finished this stunning 53m² porcelain floor in Farnham.

These beautiful 1200 x 600mm travertine-effect porcelain tiles were laid throughout the kitchen and utility room in a one-third bond pattern, giving the space a clean, modern look while enhancing the natural stone effect.

Before tiling, the entire floor was fitted with an anti-fracture decoupling membrane over the water underfloor heating. This helps protect the tiled floor from any movement or stress caused by temperature changes, ensuring a long-lasting installation.

Really pleased with how this one has turned out. The large-format tiles make the space feel even bigger, and the travertine effect gives it a timeless, high-end finish.

We started this 75m² floor tiling project in Farnham yesterday, covering the kitchen, utility room, hallway, and WC. As part of the preparation, we installed anti-fracture matting in the kitchen and utility areas to provide a strong, long-lasting base.

Today we started tiling the 43m² kitchen, working through towards the utility room using 1200 × 600mm porcelain flagstone-effect tiles laid in a one-third brick bond pattern. Everything is going very smoothly so far, and we’re really pleased with how it’s coming together.

A great way to finish the week, and also a big welcome to James, who started with Surrey & Hants Tiling this week as our new apprentice during the summer holidays. Looking forward to teaching him the trade properly and helping him build a career in tiling.

Today’s project was another fantastic installation completed in Guildford, and I’m really pleased with how it turned out.

This job was all about getting the preparation right to ensure the finished floor not only looks fantastic but performs for years to come.

✅ Latex screeded the entire floor to create a perfectly smooth, level surface
✅ Tiled the lounge diner with stunning 600x600 marble-effect porcelain tiles

Now that was a good day’s work. What a Monday! 💪

Today I started a 25m² floor, but it was all about getting the preparation right.

✅ Installed 25m² of Warmup insulation boards, fully bonded with S1 flexible adhesive and mechanically fixed using Jackoboard washers.
✅ Installed two 11m² Warmup electric underfloor heating mats – one for the lounge and one for the dining area.
✅ Covered everything with flexible latex screed, using rapid-set latex in one section so it’s ready for tiling first thing tomorrow morning, with the remaining area finished in standard flexible latex screed.

As every professional tiler knows, the quality of the finished floor starts with the preparation, and today was all about making sure this one is built to last.

Tomorrow is an exciting day as James joins me for his very first day as an apprentice. Over the next two days we’ll be laying the porcelain tiles, before returning on Thursday to grout and put the finishing touches to another quality installation.

Another bathroom transformation completed! 👌

This project features crisp white ceramic wall tiles laid in a classic brick bond pattern, paired with stylish grey porcelain floor tiles, also laid in brick bond for a clean, timeless finish.

The shower enclosure has been fully tiled from floor to ceiling, with the rest of the bathroom finished at half-height to keep the room feeling bright and spacious.

Before any tiling started, I reinforced the floor by installing Hardie® Backer Board throughout, providing a strong, stable base to ensure a long-lasting installation.

I’m really pleased with how this one turned out. The combination of the white walls and grey porcelain floor gives it a fresh, modern look that will stay in style for years to come.
