A long day, plastering away.

So fulfilling when the clients are however over the moon.

I had a kitchen the plaster because unfortunately the clients were ripped off.

They had a new kitchen fitted, it the company didn’t bother to have it plastered, first.

I had to make sure I was meticulous with protection. Took me a while to prep before I could even get started, but we got there in the end.

I also filled out the architraves so they have an overall good finish.

If you’re wondering why I got it all done today, finished up at silly ocklovk, rather than comes back tomorrow for another set, and clean up:

1 - least the client can have their kitchen back.
2 - it’s my sons birthday and I want the day off to celebrate with him.

Hope everyone had a lovely day.

Love

Antonio

Client had some nasty cracks on the windows that needed rectifying that no painter could get over, ( unless you want to spend several days filling out and sanding down )

At first I had to smash out all the imperfections. Bond over, scrim, then wait for it all to pick up and plaster over once beaded.

It was a straight forward fix, other than having to deal with the mess.

But the beauty of any mess, is that it can always get cleaned right up ✌️🙂

It’s nice to do something a little different every now and again.

I haven’t shaped up an archway for quite some time, so it was good to get stuck into something different.

The client wanted to remove the existing door and transform the opening into an archway.

The important part with an arch like this is getting the two sides perfectly symmetrical and establishing exactly where the curve is going to start.

I marked out the centre of the opening and measured the required width and height of the finished arch. I then marked the spring points, where the vertical sides finish and the radius of the curve begins.

Rather than trying to build the entire curve in one go, I fixed a piece of timber across the opening as a reference and gradually built up the shape using bonding and drywall mixed together.

I built out both sides evenly, constantly checking my measurements from the centre line to make sure the curve remained symmetrical.

Once I had enough material built up, I used a second piece of timber as a radius template, working it around the curve to remove the excess material and gradually bring the arch into shape.

The trick is not to try and lay it all at once, but instead build it gradually.

Once the radius was right and both sides matched, I could then refine the edges and prepare the whole arch for plastering.

It’s one of those jobs where taking your time with the preparation makes all the difference to the finished result.

Not something I get asked to do every day, but definitely satisfying when you stand back and see it come together. 👌
