Our customer here requested a major trim back to the two small trees out the front as they could no longer people watch from their window.
I started the work here which is being done in two phases as to not shock/stress the two trees. A little more reduced than what I would usually be comfortable with, but it's the customers garden so it is ultimately their choice. Will do some before and afters in the next couple of weeks ✂️

For this job I used this "HAWKSMOOR 28CC" from Toolstation. Never used one before but needed a replacement- the HS130 finally snapped after a decade.
This one cuts well, but it can be a nightmare to start. It's a decent backup and still going strong. Its being sold for £120.00 👍

So pleased to see the plants introduced to this garden now thriving and the amount of bees is insanely fulfilling to see 🐝 the plants shown are: Dahlia, Aster, Hellebore (and Lavender). All plants the customer didn't think was possible when I planned them in.

I have taken a "Swiss Garden" and have made it more in keeping with an "English Cottage" Garden. That is determined by many factors. This garden for instance is by the sea which means contending with low PH levels (alkali soil), salt ingress, acid rain, and wind. Lots of work involved to mitigate those factors. Too much to go into here. This client didn't think it was possible at first, and their garden was mostly succulent based....and Agave, Aloe, Yucca, Flax. Pampas...(spikes, thorns, wax leaves, scarred hands). Most of the colour back then was coming from a select few plants resilient to the sea i.e. Red Valerian and some Daisy varieties (e.g. Eregeron, Eregion, Feverfew).

Introduced a great deal since back then and manage the garden weekly.

Residents of & there is no hosepipe ban issued by both Affinity Water and Southern Water. Please start watering your lawns again. All lawns have taken an absolute hammering, many of which brown and obliterated with the sun and no rainfall.

You can heal your lawn with the right treatment. But Water is the most important aspect. Water for 30 minutes in the morning, 30 minutes in the evening. Every day for 2 weeks, until growing green and golden again. You can then reduce watering to every 3 days.
Fertiliser helps a lot, as does aeration. Many lawns are compacted which restricts roots from being able to expand and absorb moisture.
