I have been using Brush mates for many years, clipping brushes in during jobs to keep them soft. As long as you put new fluid in they could be kept for months in there. Now that Voc requirements have changed oil paints they no longer work. We have new formulas for the tins but I have found no change, my brushes still go off. I have taken to dabbing the brushes in white spirit before storing them in the tin. It’s a real shame but it looks like these Brush mate Tins are no longer able to do what they were designed for and most likely will become obsolete. Annoying if you have invested good money for them.

Had to strip plaster off due to the previous owner plastering over distemper. It was all cracked and fell off as soon as my scraper touched it. I sanded back to the old plaster and skimmed after PVA. Window restrung and given its first coat.. to be continued..
