This project in Freckleton involved rejuvenating a tired grey natural sandstone patio by undertaking a full, traditional repointing process.
All existing joints were ground out to create a clean base, and any loose sandstone flags were lifted and reset (made good) to ensure a stable surface.
A traditional sand and cement mortar mix was used for strength and durability, with a touch of black mortar tone, contrasting with the shades of grey in the paving.
The mortar was applied by gun, pressing it deep into the joints with a jointing tool to ensure solid, void-free filling.
The process ensures the mortar is firmly packed and smoothed, giving the grey sandstone a refreshed, new appearance.
This traditional approach ensures better longevity compared to some resin-based options, provided the joints are properly prepared and filled.
