Walking up this very street in Frome this morning, I bumped into the ever-insightful Amelia. Those from Frome will probably know her through

Amelia has an almost angelic ability to appear at exactly the right moment. It was through working with her that I finally found the words for what makes my approach different. Who I serve. Why I do what I do. What sits beneath the garden design itself.

Seeing her today felt significant. It also got me thinking...

What's it actually like to work with me?

Most people don't come to me because they want a new patio or prettier planting. They come because they're entering a new chapter and their garden no longer reflects the life they're living or the life they're stepping into.

My role is to bridge that gap. To help you think bigger, see new possibilities and create a garden that's built around you.

When I talk about gardens beyond Pinterest, this is what I mean.

You don't need to copy someone else's garden. You need someone to uncover what feels right for you and help bring it to life.

If your garden no longer fits who you're becoming, send me a message and let's talk. 🌿

Taking photos of this garden in the sunshine last week felt pretty special. 🌿 Set high above the Cotswold Way, it's a little slice of the Mediterranean tucked away in the Cotswolds, and every time I visit I notice something new.

The best part, though, was seeing my clients enjoying it. They looked so relaxed and happy, exactly how a garden should make you feel. The planting has really settled in now and the space is buzzing with birds, bees and butterflies, which brings them so much joy.

That's always the goal really. Not just a beautiful garden, but a garden that gets used, loved and becomes part of everyday life.

And I have to mention my favourite detail... they recently popped to Lidl for lemon Fanta and Lays crisps to complete the holiday vibe. If you can't get to the Med, bring the Med to you. 🍋☀️🌿

I'll be sharing more of the build side of this project over the coming weeks too, so you can see just how far it has come. I'll also lift the lid on what it's really like working with a garden designer and landscaper, with plenty of behind-the-scenes insights and practical advice along the way.

Not sure where to start with your garden? Start with a single object. A pot, an urn, a bench, an old watering can. New or old, it doesn't matter. 🌿

Study it. Think about the story it tells. Build a mood board around it and let it guide your choices.

Some of the best gardens aren't complicated. They evolve over time, layer by layer. Taking a phased approach is often kinder on your nervous system and your bank balance too.

You don't need to create everything at once. Just start somewhere - oh and don't forget to have some fun along the way. 💚

Right, introductions 👋🏼

I’m Diane. If you’re new here, welcome. If you’ve been following along for a while, thank you for sticking around.

I’m obsessed with design, but honestly? I love people just as much. People, place and plants. Get all three working together and something magic happens.

I work with all sorts of clients, but I do have a soft spot for a certain type of woman… the one whose life is finally opening back up again. The kids are older, the chaos has eased slightly, and for the first time in years she’s asking: “What do I want?”

Usually the answer is:
✨ sanctuary
✨ a place to reset
✨ somewhere to breathe
✨ and a garden that finally gives something back to her, too

These women are bold, funny, emotionally intelligent and not afraid to make big decisions. My kind of people.

The result? Gardens that actually feel like them. Spaces to retreat to, host in, reset in and make memories in. No sad token patio shoved in the corner. No “that’ll do.”

When she likes something, she sees it and she gets it. Frankly, I respect the efficiency. Unlike my attempt at garden photography yesterday. I needed you, clearly 😂

Forever influenced by Japanese design principles and Classical Feng Shui. 💫🌿

Japanese gardens have long understood something many modern spaces forget, that the feeling of a place matters just as much as how it looks. Simplicity, balance, asymmetry, negative space, borrowed views and carefully framed moments all work together to slow the eye and calm the nervous system.

Rather than filling every corner, the focus is often on restraint. Allowing materials to age. Creating rhythm through repetition. Designing movement through the garden so spaces gradually unfold instead of revealing everything at once.

A garden with flow is rarely accidental. It comes from carefully considering how you enter a space, where the eye lands, how light moves throughout the day and how materials, planting and structure work together to create a sense of ease and quiet coherence.

An exciting collaboration with back in September 2025.

Some old favourites from a dear client and friend’s garden, back when I still had the audacity to shoot in landscape format… before Instagram convinced us all that every garden now needs to fit inside a portrait rectangle 😂

Taken on one of the hottest days of the year, these photos are nearly five years old now and a few things in the garden have evolved since then. Which probably means we’re overdue another cuppa and catch up 🌿

I’m beyond excited to return to this project in a few weeks.

2026 feels like a year of pushing boundaries, getting clearer and clearer on my story led approach, and continuing to sharpen my ability to fuse old with new in a way that feels grounded, thoughtful and lasting.
