Recent landscaping work completed in Zeals 🔨

A great job to be involved in alongside Dan Patch Building for some lovely clients.

This one involved extensive groundwork from start to finish including excavation for the gabion retaining walls, concrete screeds to ensure all baskets sat perfectly level, and the gabion walls backfilled with concrete for added strength and stability. Draintex membrane was installed beneath the sub-base along with Type 1 preparation ready for the paving installation.

The work also included ACO drainage throughout and a recessed concrete hot tub base with steel mesh reinforcement, designed so the finished hot tub sits flush with the patio level.

The gabion baskets were filled using natural local quarry stone and finished with acid tumbled Egyptian Limestone Sinai Pearl paving, laid on full mortar beds and traditionally pointed for a clean, long-lasting finish.

Garden Transformation ✨

Started as a plain newbuild lawn — now it’s a low maintenance, modern outdoor space built for relaxing and entertaining.

We used:
✔️ 600x600 20mm Tundra grey porcelain slabs (laid half bond)
✔️ Custom-built timber planters
✔️ Raised decking with a pergola
✔️ Finished with flamingo decorative gravel for a clean, modern look

🏡 Porcelain Patio Transformation – 📸 Swipe through the journey

Another garden cleared, prepped, and completely transformed with a sleek new anthracite porcelain patio and path 👇

Here’s what went into this one:

✅ Full dig-out to 200mm depth — exceeding standard spec for extra stability
✅ Installed w**d membrane for long-term control
✅ 140mm of compacted MOT Type 1

✅ Finished the sub-base with a layer of Mendip dust to bind and lock it all together — then fully compacted with a wacker plate for maximum strength
✅ Slabs: 20mm thick, 900x600 anthracite porcelain laid in a stylish half-lap pattern
✅ Laid on a 50mm full mortar bed (5:1 sharp sand & cement) with backs slurried for solid adhesion
✅ Matching path installed for seamless finish
✅ 3mm precision joints for a crisp finish
✅ Finished with treated sleepers around the edge and black basalt gravel to tie it all in

Strong base. Clean finish. Built for years of use 👌

From Overgrown to Functional! 🌿➡️✅

We recently turned a completely unusable corner of a property into a clean, practical, and great-looking space!

🛠️ What we did:

-Removed a tangled mess of brambles and an old hedge
-Dug out a blocked ditch that was causing drainage issues
-Installed a 300mm twin wall pipe for proper water flow
-Backfilled and levelled the area for safe, usable ground

Finished off with a strong, smart-looking feather edge fencing for a clean, lasting boundary
