Our Founder & CEO Yao-Yun Chang has announced that as a Platform-as-a-Service modernising commerce for larger businesses with physical locations, we have closed a US$20 million Series A financing earlier this year. The financing round involved new institutional investors and existing shareholders, bringing the total funding raised to US$30 million after launching 2 years ago.

The company has grown significantly since then, with annualised processing volume approaching US$1 billion across the platform. Kody is also positioned for further expansion as we continue to partner with leading retail and hospitality brands.

With our fully integrated financial infrastructure and software platform, Kody simplifies business operations by integrating into existing systems to help businesses reduce operating costs, increase net profit margin, and gain instant access to cash flow. Businesses can also utilise our proprietary spending insights and customer tracking data to significantly improve customer retention and enhance their loyalty programs.

This weekend marked our first anniversary of publicly launching in the UK, and it has been an extraordinary journey so far. We are truly grateful for the opportunity we have been given by hundreds of businesses across the UK relying on KodyPay.

Since our public beta launch in July 2022, businesses have collectively already processed more than US$0.13 billion in total payment volume on the KodyPay platform, and our annualised total payment volume is now nearing US$0.5 billion.

In the past 12 months, there have been more than 2 million users of KodyPay, and we are now processing nearly 2% of the revenue within the ～£20 billion Full Service Restaurant Industry/Market in the UK (IBISWorld, 2022). Furthermore, we have also recently started closed beta trials into other industries/markets and preparing for expansion into different geographies.

Growing up, I always believed that we could make a difference if we truly believed in something. No matter how difficult the task would be, having the confidence to follow your heart is all that matters.

My parents emigrated to the UK from Taiwan when I was just 3 years old because they believed I should learn English and eventually pursue an international business career. Fascinated by how the world worked, I started to learn about the stock market and its relevance to the health of world economies when I was just 13 years old. However, after long queues during lunchtime in high school every day, I became super excited about the potential of revolutionising the payment acceptance landscape because I believed brick & mortar businesses deserve better. This was essentially the start of KodyPay.

At first, nobody believed an 18-year-old could launch a payment & financial services platform, but I naively thought we could. After three years of rejections, we were able to preserve and, fortunately, launched a trial in October 2021, making the first live KodyPay transaction whilst at University. As a result, we generated greater confidence in the opportunity ahead to revolutionise payment acceptance within brick-and-mortar businesses. This allowed us to adopt the principle of customer first, so we could always prioritise product improvements by listening to suggestions and feedback relentlessly through the continuous innovation of our technology.

As we continue on this path alongside the remarkable KodyPay team, I extend my gratitude for your unwavering loyalty and support to those who have recently joined us or been with us since the beginning. Every day, we strive to improve, continuously pushing boundaries as we dedicate ourselves to solving the needs of our valued customers.

It's been a happy new year for us indeed over at KodyPay as we welcome new starters to our team, bringing a wealth of experience primarily in sales and backend engineering (with more yet to come!).
