🏠 Another reroof coming together nicely for RJH Roofing Ltd!

This one has been finished using Rustic Duo Edgemere tiles, giving the property a smart, modern finish while still keeping plenty of character.

There was a little more to consider on this project than your standard reroof. 🦇 Bats were present at the property, so the roofing system needed to be completed with this firmly in mind.

Bats and their roosts are legally protected in the UK, because a number of our native bat species have suffered significant population declines through habitat loss and the disappearance of suitable roosting sites. Their protection also means roofing work has to be carefully planned so existing roosts aren’t damaged or disturbed.

For this reason, we used 1F traditional bitumen roofing felt/membrane, rather than a standard breathable membrane, helping to provide a bat-friendly roofing build-up appropriate for the project.

The job involved stripping the existing roof right back before rebuilding it and finishing with the Rustic Duo Edgemeres, along with a mechanically fixed dry ridge system.

A great example of how reroofing isn’t simply about putting new tiles on — the right materials and installation methods have to suit the property, the environment and, occasionally, its smallest residents too! 🦇🏠
