Here’s Graeme with a walkthrough of this fantastic “phase two” of a project we started two years ago with clients in our home village, Stow.

This project involved a new driveway, steps, walling, and play area to complement the patio we installed in 2024.

After some discussions, viewing of samples, comparing similar projects, and advice from Graeme Steel, a design was finalised for the next stage.

The driveway is Marshalls Gardens and Driveways Tegula Drivesett in Pennant Grey, in our favoured 2 sizes/herringbone pattern with complimentary Tegula radial kerbs creating beautiful curves. The gravel parking areas are prepared to the same specifications as the block-paved area, and we used Border gravel.

The new steps at the front door are Sawn Versuro Silver Birch Bullnose, which enhances the front doorway.

The second set of steps leads to the bike garage. We used textured Saxon Buff paving. This gives a high slip resistance, so it should cope well with returning wet, muddy bikes and cyclists. We also designed in a ramp for the bikes.
The complimentary walls, which continue up to the garden, are Marshalite Buff Split Walling.

For the play area, we created a more level area as this is an underused area of the garden. It was dug out, levelled with type 1 hardcore, blinded whin dust, contained with 6” x 2” treated timber, topped with play bark. We also installed the climbing frame.

This has been a fantastic transformation for returning clients in our own community. Thank you to them for choosing Stow Construction again. 👍🏻

A fantastic new deck transformation in Galashiels.

Our clients had recently purchased this property, and the old deck had deteriorated and become hazardous.

Following a consultation and advice from Graeme Steel, the majority of the existing timbers were removed. A new, smaller deck area was designed with new steps, handrails, a gate, and raised beds. A small area of paving in Marshalls Gardens and Driveways Fairstone Antique Alverno Golden Sand and decorative gravel was also installed.

The high-quality pressure-treated timbers were supplied by Robertson Timber Ltd.

We recently completed this outstanding landscaping project near Peebles.

The products were selected to complement this stylish new build. We used Marshalls Gardens and Driveways Symphony Lapis Grey, Indian Sandstone Grey Multi in 600 x 900 size. Fairstone Tumbled Walling in Silver Birch and gabion baskets from Ultimate One were also used.

Drew Caldwell joinery and construction was the main contractor, and the quality of the build is top class.

The garden is now being completed with planting by Paul of Green Elements.

What a transformation!

This patio and steps were installed by ourselves about ten years ago in Kirkintilloch. The clients asked us to return to clean and repoint the patio and steps. The project is back to looking how it was when first installed all those years ago.

Regular maintenance services are available from Stow Construction. Even after all those years, we can revitalise our projects back to their original glory.

Having previously worked for these clients in Edinburgh, they contacted Graeme again regarding a new patio extension, after revisiting a design they had been considering by Martin Watt.

After discussions, it was agreed Marshalls Gardens and Driveways Arrento Encore Platinum planks would be used for the main area. The edging detail is 100 x 100 Charcoal porcelain setts supplied by Kebur Garden Materials. The screens are from Luxury Screens and the planters are from Livingreen Design Ltd.

The timber was treated, dressed and supplied by Robertson Timber Ltd. Thanks also to MKM Building Supplies, St Boswells Mowers Hire & Melrose Ltd Skip Hire.

Another fantastic installation and once again, the clients are delighted.

We’ve just completed this fantastic steps transformation in Edinburgh.

We’d been recommended by a neighbour that we had worked for a couple of years ago, and although this doesn’t look a particularly big job, the only access was through the client’s house, so of course the installation had to be carried out with great care by Eddie & James.

The clients were delighted with the whole process, singing their praises upon completion.

We used Marshalls Gardens and Driveways Saxon Textured non-slip paving and Tegula walling to complement the existing stone walls.

Thank you to MKM Edinburgh for help with deliveries to the challenging location.

These images are of a recently completed installation in our home village of Stow.

Having previously worked for our clients on various projects, we were instructed to build new stone walls in the garden using stone and copings that had been reclaimed. Part of the purpose of the project was to protect the property from flooding if the Gala Water rose as it frequently does as well as complimenting the existing walls.

We completed the installation by raising the garden and installing a new Rolawn Medallion lawn.

The images don’t really show the amount of work that went into this project.

Another well-engineered project by Moray, Neil, David & Ryan. 👍🏻
