We’re proud to have successfully delivered the upgrade of 140m of Eastern Quay, supporting the operational capacity of Ridham Sea Terminal.

Delivered through a design and build contract in partnership with Beckett Rankine, the project involved stabilising the existing mass concrete gravity wall through the installation of a new sheet piled structure.

The new sheet piled structure has been tied into the existing gravity wall to reduce movement caused by the marine environment.

The project achieved a 97% HSEQ audit score, with close to 25,000 man hours completed without a reportable accident.

This follows the successful completion of Phase 1 in 2022, which was delivered by Southbay, and involved upgrading a 90m section of the Eastern Quay.

Thank you to everyone involved in the successful delivery of this project.

Works are progressing at our Tilbury Dry Dock Development project, with the team currently installing steel piles and carrying out FRC works for the suspended deck, which will provide a new platform across the dock facility.

Alongside construction, the team are progressing design development for further concrete structures, keeping the project moving in line with a challenging programme.

The development will upgrade the existing infrastructure supporting river traffic across the Thames Estuary, while also employing labour from across the Essex region.

With extreme weather conditions continuing, additional measures have also been introduced to protect our workforce, including sunscreen dispensers, regular hydration breaks and appropriate PPE.

This morning, the Southbay team got stuck in and helped with the nurdle clean-up at Cambois with the Port of Blyth.

Following the recent release of plastic pellets, known as nurdles, into the North East coastline, teams have been working to remove as many as possible from our beaches and coastal areas.

A big thank you to everyone who got involved this morning.

Progress continues on our Tilbury Dry Dock Development project, with the team maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and collaboration.

Over the latest reporting period a total of 10 HSEQ audits and inspections have been completed, achieving an impressive average score of 97.1%, reflecting the team's continued commitment to delivering the project safely.

A total of 116 days have been worked without a reportable accident.

Coinciding with the recent spell of high temperatures, additional measures have been implemented to ensure safe working practices remain a priority across the site.

Construction continues to move forward, with the installation of precast concrete planks, perimeter edging blocks and supporting steelwork all progressing well.

Close collaboration between our team and the client's designer is also continuing to support the development of the utility infrastructure.

We were delighted to welcome members of the Uber Boat Board of Directors to site, providing an opportunity to showcase the excellent progress being made.

Alongside construction, we remain committed to supporting the local community through the employment of local labour and engagement with local suppliers, ensuring the project delivers lasting value beyond the construction works.

A fantastic effort from everyone involved as we continue to deliver this exciting project safely and successfully.
