I guess the original contractor didn't leave enough length on the final ends so decided to use a combination of crimp joints and connector blocks to extend, then the mess got covered up within the fabric of the building

Really!?? Is that the best you could do??? 🤨

So I spent my morning taking up the floor in the room above correctly extending with maintenance free connectors and appropriate joint boxes so I could run double insulated cables into the new consumer unit

This was yet again work carried out on a brand new house back in 2000, literally SHOCKING!!!

Call out to a house that had a lot of circuits not working. Wasn't expecting to find this..17th edition consumer unit fitted 10 years ago.
The cause was a loose connection on a solid neutral bar.
Not a massive supporter of the solid bar system as it does not promote the best connection
After a reshuffle of my jobs today I managed to fit a new 18th edition consumer unit so all back up and running

Its important to have your electrics periodically tested and inspected
