Our client already had an existing hybrid inverter installed by the original installer…

We sourced 2 x 5KwH batteries and moved the inverter from the loft to a suitable location outside the property.

This new build property already had solar installed…

We upgraded the system with an EcoFlow UK hybrid inverter, 10KwH of battery storage and an EV charger…

The previous system had been installed without access to an app to monitor generation…

This new system now has the solar, battery storage and EV charger all on the same app 👌🏼

What do we actually do during a periodic solar inspection on your home?

🟢 Check over all electrical components for any signs of damage or degradation

🔵 Ensure all electrical connections are tight and free from signs of overheating

🟢 Inverter functional checks

🔵 Electrical testing of the solar strings using our Seaward PV150 (voltage checks, insulation resistance and short circuit current) ensuring the readings are within the perameters for the panels installed

🟢 A visual check of the solar panels using our fully insured drone service to ensure there are no damaged cells or signs of overheating

🔵 Provide a full report of our findings, including photos and a test sheet of results with any recommendations

If you have solar panels installed, we would recommend a periodic inspection every 5 years or in line with your home insurance policy guidelines.

18 x 515w panels on this one with a 6kW hybrid inverter and 15KwH of battery storage…

We also installed an EV charger - all EcoFlow UK kit.

The great thing about this set up is having the solar and the EV charger on the same app 👌🏼

The inverter speaks to the charger, doing away with the need to wire an additional CT clamp!

A perfect example of why you should have your solar system inspected…

This system is 12 years old and has had an inverter replacement by a previous company…

The client noticed a drop in efficiency a while ago but the inverter was showing no faults…

The string test shows the insulation resistance is pretty low and there is earth leakage…

This inverter wont pick up the fault until it is less than 1mΩ…

Pigeons have been nesting underneath the panels and have caused damage to the strings…

If regular checks were in place, this could have been picked up earlier on…

6kw .uk inverters on both, 15KwH of battery storage and Pulse 2 EcoFlow chargers…

First time installing the EcoFlow chargers and we were pretty impressed with the integration to the solar side of things and having it all on the same app👌🏼

Some remedial works this morning from a commercial periodic solar inspection we carried out in February…

One of the terminals on the DC isolator was threaded and loose so this was replaced…

All stranded ends were crimped before retermination into both isolators…

A remedials report was given to the client with evidence of completed works…

Nice wee easy one in Newton Mearns earlier today…

Same estate, same scenario with inverters not actually doing anything…

Easy fix, just the AC isolator next to the consumer unit needing switched back on…

The whole system was checked over and the DC strings were tested as always when we carry out a periodic inspection…

A report and test results are sent out as part of our customer maintenance pack…

Anyone looking to have a periodic inspection carried out on their solar system, give us a shout!

Your inverter is still under warranty, if anything goes wrong it’ll just get replaced, right?…

Not always the case!…

When making a warranty claim, you may need to prove that the system has been regularly maintained…

Warranties can be voided if the product has not been maintained or has been subject to neglect or improper maintenance…

We would recommend having your system checked for safety and efficiency every 3-5 years…
