Not every job is one you should say yes to… and that’s a good thing.

We were recently asked to look at and quote a full rewire in East Kilbride. Straight away, it was clear this wasn’t your standard rip out, install and go job. This one needed a specialist approach.

One of the most important traits in any good business is knowing your limits. Taking on work just for the sake of it rarely delivers the best result for the client.

Instead, we pointed the customer in the right direction.

We recommended Jonny and the team at Glasgow Rewires, and it’s exactly why specialists exist. These guys carry out rewires day in, day out, and that experience shows.

They’ve managed to carry out the work while preserving finishes throughout the property, saving the customer from lifting laminate flooring and avoiding damage to areas like tiling.

That level of care and planning makes all the difference.

Big shout out to Jonny and the Glasgow Rewires team 🤝

As we continue to shine a light and try to raise awareness for . I wanted to share a little bit of our story:

Our daughter was born in 2020 with Ebstein’s Anomaly, a rare congenital heart defect that affects the tricuspid valve.

In simple terms, the valve on the right side of her heart is positioned lower than it should be. It is enlarged, twisted and the leaflets are deformed, which means it does not close properly and blood can leak backwards.

Alongside that, she also has an ASD, which is a hole between the top chambers of the heart. In children with Ebstein’s, this is quite common and can add another layer of complexity.

Ebstein’s Anomaly accounts for less than 0.5% of all congenital heart defects.

Because of the abnormal valve structure, the right side of the heart can become enlarged and work harder than it should. This means major reconstructive surgery is needed, the most common to repair this is known as the cone procedure.

The cone procedure is a highly specialised surgical technique used to repair the tricuspid valve in Ebstein’s Anomaly. Instead of replacing the valve, the surgeon carefully detaches the existing leaflets, reshapes them and reconstructs them into a cone shape so they function more like a normal valve. It is an extremely complex and delicate operation, particularly in children. Although outcomes have improved significantly over the last two decades, it is still considered a relatively modern advancement in congenital heart surgery. Because of the level of precision and expertise required, only a small number of highly trained paediatric cardiac surgeons are able to perform it regularly, typically in major specialist heart centres.

Congenital heart defects are the most common type of birth defect, yet many people have never heard of conditions like Ebstein’s until it touches their own family.

This month is about awareness, understanding and support for every child and family affected by congenital heart defects. ❤️

We are incredibly proud to have been able to support the amazing team at Little Brains.

When an organisation is working day in, day out to help children, young people and families, making sure their building is safe and ready to welcome everyone is the least we can do.

Seeing the difference they make in the community, and knowing the money saved can go straight back into services and support, means far more than any invoice ever could.

Thank you for trusting us to play a small part in your journey. We’ll always be happy to help.

❤️

LawMac Electrical Services
Another truly special thank you to Lawmac Electrical Services.

Some support goes far beyond what is expected, and this absolutely falls into that category.

Lawmac carried out electrical work for us in our old space and then did it all again when we moved into our own new building.
Both times, they did the work completely free of charge.

Let that sink in.
Electrical safety is not optional. It is essential. Especially in a space supporting children, young people and families. Knowing that our sockets, wiring and installations were safe gave us the confidence to open our doors without fear.

To have a professional company step in not once, but twice, and refuse payment for their labour speaks volumes about the kind of people they are.

Their generosity has saved Little Brains thousands of pounds. Money that has instead gone directly back into resources, sessions and support for families.

This is what community looks like.
Lawmac Electrical Services, thank you for backing us. Thank you for believing in what we are building. And thank you for quietly making sure our space is safe, secure and ready to hold the families who walk through our doors.

We are incredibly grateful.
