We are looking to take on an apprentice with experience,

Must be able to understand and wire radials and rings with basic knowledge of lighting.

This may mean someone half way through first year or a second year.

Would suit someone unhappy at their current employer.

Must be willing to work away occasionally where hotel and generous food allowance paid daily.

Driving license preferred.

Sadly not open to adult trainees, only apprentices.

Good Afternoon,

Hope you are all well and enjoying the summer holidays.

After a couple of days in Denmark recently and speaking to people over there and researching companies who implement it already in the UK, we have made the decision to go to a 4 day working week.

This decision has been decided upon to give our staff a better work/life balance and more family time.

Hopefully this will also benefit our amazing clients (especially our landlords whom have regular issues getting their tenants to be in for us between 9-5pm).

As of Monday 8th August this will be our new working hours below-

8am to 6pm Monday to Thursday

However Friday, Saturday and Sunday’s will be available at out of hours rates.

Is there anything worse than when a company doesn’t post prices or replies to every comment saying “DM us for price”? 😭

Transparency has always been at the top of our list for our clients along with service, professionalism and reliability.

We have worked of a simple price per point structure since day one 7.5 years ago- eg an extra double socket is £65 regardless if it’s 100mm or 20m from nearest point, and regardless what’s involved whether it’s chasing or simple gyproc.

Why do we do this- quite simply we work on averages and it means I’m lucky if I spend 4 hours a week quoting on site, I can quote almost any job over phone/email within under an hour. Our clients love it as they know if we’re within their budget before they contact us, this means our quote acceptance figure is tremendous at over 90%. It also means we can give great prices as I’m not wasting 20-30 hours a week pricing menial jobs etc and I can be on the tools personally daily along with my staff, which is what I enjoy. I’m truly passionate about my electrics, it’s all I’ve known since helping my dad as a young boy at weekends.

So as a little thank you for keeping us busy I’ve decided to run a little July special offer.

All rewires booked in July receive 10% discount, extras added to clients spec also receive the discount.

I’ve thrown together some basic rewire quotes for various common types of dwellings.

I’m on holiday from 20th June a week and our amazing adult trainee Bradley is in the very final stage of his adult apprenticeship. He’s had over a years experience of working alone here and there and he’s the best trainee I’ve ever had. He’s carried out over 50 rewires alongside myself and the team.

Our usual rates for rewires are £75 per point for sockets/lights/switches.

I’m willing to do one rewire at 50% discount next week.

Bradley will work alongside a first year apprentice carrying out the installation, and immediately upon my return I’ll personally test the whole installation and sign it off.

This is not an easy post to write.

All our clients love our transparency with pricing, we work of a clear price list for everything other than fault finding/testing which is charged hourly.

We haven’t changed our price list by a single penny since I started the business in December 2014.

Sadly as of Monday we have no option but to increase our pricing.

Over 7 years ago when I made our price list I was paying around £27.99 inc vat for 100m of 2.5mm twin and earth, today it’s over £80. Fuel was around £1.20 per litre today its nearly £2. Insurance for the vans is more today than it was back then even though we’ve never made a single claim or had an accident.

We also love to give back to the youth, we always have 2 apprentices at all times going through the system. Back then a 1st year apprentice was around £130 a week wages, today it’s over £200.

I didn’t mind small increases annually and I’ve took the hit year on year for 7 years, but at a guess I’d say I’m now making 30% less profit on a job of the same value as 7 years ago.

As of Monday all prices will rise by 10-20%.

I will post our new price lists for all electrical works on Monday evening as I’m away with T family this weekend.

We have been established since 2014 and carry out work UK wide.

The suitable candidate must be-

- very reliable with excellent timekeeping
- be able to use initiative
- have no outside of work commitments that make working away from home or occasional midweek overtime not possible. Overtime is rare but working away is common, when working away nice hotels and £20 daily meal allowance is paid.
- driving license and own vehicles would be hugely beneficial.

Immediate start available for the right candidate, starting with a one month trial period which will lead to an electrical apprenticeship with block release at college.

Good Morning,

For approaching nearly 8 years I have put my heart and soul into this business. It was my only source of income and all my clients will know that I’d break my back for them daily, working ridiculously long hours and everything always running like clockwork.

The last year however since opening my “little” sideline Biggie Scoopz trying to give my family a better life, some of my sky high standards may have slipped. The standard of the actual work has never slipped, I always guarantee absolute first class workmanship, however the paperwork side has slipped, with delays for some people on certs etc etc.

Quite simply Biggie Scoopz within 24 hours went absolutely insanely busy, and it became my main income by a mile overnight and consumed huge amounts of time. I now employ 36 people at Biggie Scoopz and have 2 (nearly 3) parlours open.

The positive of the huge success of Biggie Scoopz is that I have recently been able to employ an Area Manager, to carry out all the day to day running etc etc. This in turn frees up all my time and no longer am I working 8-6/7pm at electrics then straight to parlour until midnights most nights etc.

I don’t normally get personal on here but I feel I owe an apology to a few fantastic loyal customers who’ve maybe had to wait a bit longer than usual on paperwork, or for me for a booking. I have took a step back, seen the issue that I was trying to do too much and please too many people, fixed the problem by employing the correct staff and now I can concentrate on what I truly love and enjoy- electrical installation work. Even if I got 50 parlours open, I’ll still be on the tools, I love it, it isn’t even work to me I enjoy it that much.

As of today, Sky high standards and speed of paperwork etc resume instantly.

I am offering a 20% discount on all work booked in before the the end of the month (April)

Jack our new first year apprentice deserves some public recognition for the work he’s been turning out.

Quite simply he’s the best apprentice I’ve ever came across, an absolute diamond of a lad.

Never missed a day, always early, great with clients and the work he’s turning out would put some fully qualified electricians to shame in all honesty!

He’s got a keen eye for detail and a perfectionist, which is exactly what we demand here, always perfection.

Here’s some of his work today on a commercial rewire at Biggie Scoopz’s new branch in Greenock.

This lad will go far in the electrical world, I can see me needing to give him shares when he qualifies to keep a hold of him 🤣.

He’s already had his first wage rise and not even finished first year.

It’s Saturday morning and this photo was taken around 7.45am to finish the last few hours on a rewire in Helensburgh.

We don’t normally work weekends but it’s paramount to get this one over the line so the family can move in their new home ready to renovate and we can be ready for another large one starting in Shawlands on Monday.

Even at this time on a Saturday morning in an under stairs cupboard fitting a couple of sockets for phones etc, standards never slip, ever.
