⛳ What an Ace Day! CSS Sponsors Fantastic Charity Golf Event

We're thrilled to share that CSS recently sponsored the John Hartson Foundation's annual charity golf day at Trump Turnberry on Thursday 7th May 2026.

We all enjoyed a brilliant day of golf followed by a fantastic meal, with legendary Celtic player Scott Brown joining us as a special guest. An exciting auction of sports memorabilia kept the competitive spirit alive throughout the evening too!

And the best part?

An amazing £32,000 was raised to support the John Hartson Foundation's vital work in raising awareness of testicular cancer.

Every pound raised helps support education, awareness campaigns and support services for those affected by this important health issue.

We're incredibly proud to have played a part in making this event such a success.

🔧 The Role

We are seeking an experienced Multi‑Disciplined Service Alarm Engineer, based in Fife, to carry out planned maintenance and repair works across Intruder Alarms, Fire Alarms, Access Control and IP CCTV systems.
Reporting to the Service Field Engineering Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring systems remain compliant, reliable and maintained to the highest standards, while delivering excellent customer service across residential, commercial and public sector sites.

✅ Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned maintenance and repair works in line with company procedures
Ensure all works are completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales
Diagnose faults and resolve issues efficiently on site
Complete all site documentation, timesheets and expenses accurately and on time
Promote and uphold a strong health & safety culture

👤 About You

Experience
Minimum 2 years’ industry experience (apprenticeship preferred but not essential)

Skills & Knowledge
Confident using laptops for IP CCTV, access control and fire systems
Broad knowledge of security products and standards
Calm under pressure, organised and able to prioritise workloads
Strong customer-facing communication skills
Excellent time management
Core Behaviours
Hard‑working and reliable
Team player
Proactive problem solver
Keen to develop and expand skills
✅ Full clean UK Driving Licence required
✅ PVG & vetting checks required (as part of our employment process)

💷 Package & Benefits
Salary: £37,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience)

IDES Successfully Modernises Legacy Home Automation: Our New Case Study

Can a 2005 KNX system be brought up to modern standards without rewiring or redecoration? Our recent project in Cramond, Edinburgh, proves it can.

The Brief:

Update an aging KNX installation with modern touchscreen control, upgraded audio, lighting ,security and access control – all while reusing existing infrastructure to avoid disruption.

Our Approach:

We replaced the original Berker KNX wall switches with new Ekinex KNX wall switches, upgraded the old, inefficient halogen lighting to led, upgraded the audio system to be part of the URC home control, upgraded the CCTV and added a 'smart' entry phone – all without having to install any new cabling.

The Result:

A fully modernised smart home with comprehensive control of lighting, heating, music and entry systems, achieved with minimal disruption and improved energy efficiency.

This project demonstrates that older automation systems can be effectively upgraded without extensive renovation work, delivering a contemporary smart home experience while respecting existing infrastructure.
