Really chuffed to have the remote locking working on both of my Boxster keys neither of which had been working previously. Not only that but the work was completed on my drive. Definitely recommended, thankyou

Always check the simplest things first.

I was with a friend/colleague the other day who will remain nameless, but he's fairly well known as a Boxster dismantler in the North West of England.

He'd bought in a breaker with no keys and wanted to get it running. He had a blade that worked the ignition, but it was jammed in the ignition barrel and he told me that no amount of persuasion would get it out. He'd used WD40 - never do that - pliers etc., over days and weeks, but it wouldn't budge.

"Don't worry, [REDACTED], I'll get it."

After a good few minutes of pliers and general pulling and twisting, it definitely wasn't coming out, so, fearful of breaking it in place and making the situation worse, and as it was turning the ignition on, I decided to just leave it there and fit the key head to the blade and get it programmed in as it was. He only wanted to hear it running anyway.

A bad day was worsened, when leaning over to plug the alarm module back in I banged my head on the AUTOMATIC gear lever. IN NEUTRAL!

Some expletives were used.

To quote "Still Game" - might actually be "Chewing the Fat", I think -

"Couple a fannies".

I can't remember the last time I did two of these in the same day.

Used to be a regular occurrence, but E38s, E39s, E53s and early L322 Range Rovers are all getting rarer - and most of them will have been done by now.

Two E38s both owned by enthusiast owners repaired today.

It's not just the older Porsches we supply keys for here at PorscheKeys.

A 2022 Cayenne in today for a spare key - these hybrids never fail give me a bit of a scare when you've programmed in a new key and testing it and the engine doesn't start when you press the button!

Anyway, please get in touch for a spare key for your later model Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini, VW, Audi etc.

I'm now delighted to be able to offer remote key programming for the Porsche 987/997 range of vehicles and some others - including the 986/996 - please enquire to check if your vehicle is covered.

This means that you'll not need to wait for my next trip to your area and, that I'll be able to focus on the vehicles where remote programming isn't possible, making my trips more efficient. It's especially useful if you're in a hurry, or inhabit one of the extremities that I get to less regularly like Devon & Cornwall, Norfolk, South Wales etc.

"How does that work?", I hear you clamour.

It's pretty straightforward. You send me a good photo of your existing key - if you've lost all your keys, I can still sort it out - and I prepare your new key.

I then send you your new key(s) and a device that you plug into your car which connects to 4G/5G WiFi and allows me to connect my programming tools over the internet and program in the keys. There's a prepaid return label to send the equipment back.

The cost for 987/997 is £325 supplied, cut and programmed including postage. Payment on completion.

I've tested the system now with one or two customers and it works perfectly.

The system obviously also works for PIWIS coding and diagnostics and I'll be posting about that separately.

Please let me know if it's something you're interested in.

I'm on holiday just now and poor timing means that I, unfortunately, missed Porsche in the Glen on Sunday there.

Here's a video of the day. Some cracking cars there.

Keep an eye on here and on the Facebook groups for a Scottish event ("event" might be overstating it) to mark the 30th anniversary of the introduction of the Boxster and I'll see you all at Porsche in the Park in Aboyne on 13 September.

A real Gentleman, Not only did Boyd repair my car two weeks before a Jaguar Dealer would look at it and did it for half the price the dealer quoted, he also arranged to take the car to a local garage for an MOT. Real customer service.
