Always check the simplest things first.
I was with a friend/colleague the other day who will remain nameless, but he's fairly well known as a Boxster dismantler in the North West of England.
He'd bought in a breaker with no keys and wanted to get it running. He had a blade that worked the ignition, but it was jammed in the ignition barrel and he told me that no amount of persuasion would get it out. He'd used WD40 - never do that - pliers etc., over days and weeks, but it wouldn't budge.
"Don't worry, [REDACTED], I'll get it."
After a good few minutes of pliers and general pulling and twisting, it definitely wasn't coming out, so, fearful of breaking it in place and making the situation worse, and as it was turning the ignition on, I decided to just leave it there and fit the key head to the blade and get it programmed in as it was. He only wanted to hear it running anyway.
A bad day was worsened, when leaning over to plug the alarm module back in I banged my head on the AUTOMATIC gear lever. IN NEUTRAL!
Some expletives were used.
To quote "Still Game" - might actually be "Chewing the Fat", I think -
"Couple a fannies".
