Strengthening Our Management Team – please welcome Stewart Richmond, our newest Senior Site Manager. 👷‍♂️

Stewart brings over 28 years of experience in the construction industry, combining a strong trade background with extensive site management and leadership experience across both residential and commercial projects.

Having started his career as a joiner, Stewart has progressed through the industry into site management, building a wealth of knowledge and experience along the way.

🔨 What made you choose a career in construction?

“I’ve always enjoyed the practical and problem-solving nature of the industry, as well as the satisfaction of seeing a project develop from plans into a finished building. Starting my career as a joiner gave me a real passion for construction, which naturally progressed into site management and leadership.”

🏗️ Why LCG?

“I chose to join LCG because of the company’s strong reputation and the opportunity to work on a varied range of high-quality construction projects. I also felt the role was a great fit for my experience, giving me the opportunity to contribute while continuing to develop professionally.”

🙌 What are you looking forward to most?

“I’m looking forward to becoming part of the LCG team, taking on new challenges and contributing my experience to the successful delivery of future projects. I’m also keen to build strong working relationships and play a part in the continued growth and success of the company.”

At Lochlie Construction Group, the safety of our team is non-negotiable.

On Friday, some of our management team renewed their Emergency First Aid at Work training with Skills Training Group, refreshing their knowledge and ensuring they’re prepared to respond confidently in an emergency.

As part of our commitment to workplace safety, we ensure all Lochlie managers and supervisors are trained in first aid, giving our teams access to trained support across our projects.

Ongoing training and professional development are key to maintaining high safety standards and safeguarding our workforce, clients, and everyone we work alongside.

Last week, the Lochlie team headed into town for our summer staff night out at Flight Club Glasgow 🎯

We’re pleased to share an exciting update on our donation to the Lowland Reserve Forces & Cadets’ Association!

Following a competition across Cadet Force Adult Volunteers in the Lowlands, the winning idea has been chosen: an Augmented Reality (AR) Sandbox to transform navigation and fieldcraft training for young Cadets.

This innovative tool combines real sand with real-time digital projections to help Cadets master map-reading, contour lines, and terrain analysis in an interactive, hands-on way.

To those receiving their SQA Exam results today, it’s important to remember that no matter what’s inside your envelope, exam results don't define your worth, and they certainly don't cap your potential.

Our Industry is built on so much more than traditional academic routes. Whether it’s modern apprenticeships, workplace traineeships, or learning site management from the ground up, there are so many practical ways to build a brilliant career in construction.

Take it from our own apprentice, Brady Craig: “You can learn a lot from an apprenticeship, not just your trade. A lot of skills you develop can help you in all walks of life”

If you're thinking about your next steps after school, focus on your drive, look for hands-on opportunities, and remember - your future is shaped by your ambition, not a sheet of paper.
