There is a particular satisfaction in a space that has been thought through properly. Not decorated. Considered.

A flush recess. A clean plaster line. A fire set into the wall as if the wall was always meant to hold it.

This is the quiet part of the work. The measuring, the framing, the finishing. The bits nobody photographs, but everybody feels the moment they walk into the room. It takes patience and a proper understanding of how a home comes together, and it's the sort of craftsmanship we've been refining since 1946.

A built-in fire done well doesn't shout for attention. It settles into the room and simply belongs there, warming a Scottish home through the coldest months without ever looking like an afterthought. 🔥

There's a reason the BOX stops people mid-showroom. It doesn't look like anything else.

This is the Barbas BOX, Dutch design in its purest form.

A bold rectangular silhouette, sharp geometry, a deep matte finish that seems to absorb the light.

We've photographed it nine ways because it rewards a second look. It reads as a design object long before the first fire is lit.

Set against warm Scottish interiors, exposed stone, dark timber, natural linen, its clean lines settle in without ever fading into the background.

Bold and minimalist, with the option of a storage module or a platform to suit the room.

Some things are built to last more than one generation. You can feel it before you even light the first fire 🔥

Dark anthracite steel. A clean, architectural frame. The kind of considered design that sits comfortably in a stone-walled cottage or a modern city build.

The steel has a depth to it that photographs never quite capture, which is exactly why it's worth seeing in person. It becomes the quiet centrepiece of a room long before the flames arrive. A proper focal point, whatever the space.

Scottish summers are short. The kindling you stock in August is the fire you light in September without a second thought.

We kiln dry ours to under 12% moisture, which is what makes the difference when the first proper chill rolls in off the hills. It catches quickly, stores clean, and sits ready by the hearth long before you need it.

There's a quiet satisfaction in that bit of summer preparation. A basket set down beside the fire in the warm months, forgotten about, then waiting for you on the first cool evening of autumn.

It's the sort of small detail that makes lighting a fire feel effortless rather than a faff.

The Mini Viking Advanced Stove Fan sits quietly on the hearth and does one job well: pushing warm air out into the room instead of letting it pool above the stove.

9pm in July and the light is still pouring in. Scotland does this better than anywhere.

Long golden evenings, the quiet before the rain, a wool throw left over the armchair and a paperback gone unread.

These are the rooms we work in. Scottish homes, west-facing windows, the kind of light that asks you to slow down.
