GENERAL MANAGER / SENIOR QUARTZ FABRICATOR

# # Ready to take the next step?
Granite Scotland is looking for an experienced **quartz/stone worktop fabricator** who is ready to progress beyond the tools and take on the responsibility of running a growing worktop business.
This is **not a standard fabrication position**.
We are looking for someone who knows the quartz and stone worktop industry, can lead from the front and has the ambition and ability to progress into the **day-to-day General Manager of Granite Scotland**.
You do not need to already have the title of General Manager.
You might currently be a senior fabricator, workshop supervisor, workshop manager, fitter or experienced industry all-rounder who knows they are capable of more.
**The long-term objective is for you to progressively take over the owner's current day-to-day role and run the operation.**
# # THE ROLE
Initially, you will work closely alongside the owner, learning how every part of Granite Scotland operates.
As you progress, you will take increasing responsibility for:
• Cutting and fabricating quartz and stone worktops
• Managing the workshop and daily production
• Planning and prioritising jobs
• Ordering slabs and materials
• Checking job measurements, drawings and specifications
• Maintaining fabrication and installation quality
• Organising templates and installation schedules
• Installing worktops when required
• Coordinating fitters and other members of the team
• Managing stock, suppliers and deliveries
• Dealing directly with customers in our showroom
• Helping customers choose materials and specifications
• Preparing and following up quotations
• Converting enquiries into orders
• Managing customers from initial enquiry through to installation
• Managing the diary and workload
• Invoicing and ensuring customer balances are collected
• Banking and general day-to-day administration
• Solving problems and making operational decisions
• Increasing sales and production
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer service
Ultimately, we want you to become responsible for **running the entire day-to-day operation of the business.**
# # WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're much more interested in your **industry experience, attitude and ability** than your current job title.
You should have strong hands-on experience within the quartz/stone worktop industry and be confident in fabrication.
Installation experience would also be highly beneficial.
You should be:
• Experienced in quartz/stone worktop fabrication
• Practical and technically capable
• Reliable and highly organised
• Comfortable dealing directly with customers
• Confident making decisions
• A natural problem solver
• Able to organise people and multiple jobs
• Commercially aware
• Focused on quality

• Ambitious and looking for genuine career progression
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who doesn't need to be told what to do every five minutes.
We want someone who can identify what needs done, make decisions, solve problems and take ownership of the result.
# # SALARY & PERFORMANCE BONUS
**Starting salary: £38,500 per year**
PLUS a **performance-related bonus**.
The bonus will reward you for helping grow the business and will be linked to measurable performance, including:
• Increasing the number and value of jobs successfully completed and fitted
• Increasing customer sales and converting enquiries into orders
• Overall operational performance

# # THE OPPORTUNITY
This is an opportunity for an experienced tradesperson to make the transition from **fabricator to General Manager**.
You'll work alongside an experienced stonemason and business owner while learning the parts of running a worktop company you may not previously have been responsible for — customers, sales, suppliers, scheduling, purchasing, invoicing and business operations.
As you demonstrate your ability, more responsibility and decision-making authority will be handed over to you.
The objective isn't to employ another person who needs managing.
**The objective is to find the person who can eventually do the managing.**
