New build and close to home! Started this job in April with removing the old ruin, this will be reused in the new build, now on that stage with stonework then it’s thatching after that

Progress of Scarista reed thatching

Update on my latest job, half way now so really pleased with progress considering the hard weather we’ve had. Sorry for my drone skills it’s been a while since I last used it!!

Time has come to replace the marram thatch for reed, owner decided to change it as the marram wasn’t surviving and getting battered by the exposed location.
We are just removing the marram layer and leaving the turfs on this will be the base coat for the new reed

Reed job in Skye, remove old reed, battens and re-felt and add new battens. 😁

Berneray Hostel, stripped of all old thatch and removed battens, felt and ply, replaced with sarken boards, breathable membrane and new battens then thatched. Was a big job!
