This mulberry tree shed a limb in the autumn of 2023. The owner let me have the limb rather than cutting it up for firewood. I had it milled into 1” thick boards.
Earlier this year I was contacted by a couple who wanted a ‘tree’ set of bookshelves. Not enough mulberry for the whole job, I suggested using some oak that had been buried in peaty soil on the Somerset levels. The result of being buried had blackened the edges and created interesting figuring in the oak. Now in the spring of ‘25 the mulberry has been turned into that ‘tree’ set of bookshelves.
To think most of the time interesting woods are just being cut up for logs and burnt!
