For those who know me, you know my work goes beyond traditional architectural design. I'm excited to announce that the Reality Building Design website now truly reflects this.

I've updated the site to tell the stories behind my projects, showcasing how a 'design building reality' approach shapes everything from home alterations to unique creative installations. It’s an exploration of how I tackle problems and find those 'obvious solutions.'

I've been associated with the Red Brick Building, Glastonbury for many years, it's constantly evolving and they are now looking for a new Building and Facilities Manager (a role I did myself for a short while a few years ago). Reality Building Design is offering remote consultations for home improvements

As the lockdown progresses, we are all spending a great deal more time in our homes and many of us are becoming aware of some difficulties with the spaces we live in. When our homes do not work for us, we become acutely aware of these shortcomings and they can affect us on a deep level.

I have many years experience of rearranging and extending homes. I would like to offer my knowledge and experience to those who are looking at their living spaces and trying to figure out how they can adjust them in both the short term and the long term to help make this time of isolation more bearable.

I can offer an initial consultation free of charge, during which I may be able to offer some suggestions that could ease some of the immediate difficulties you may be experiencing. I am also able to offer advice on more substantial works which may require a builder and/or navigating the planning and building control systems.

Using Skype we can talk through the issues concerning you, you can walk me round your home and we can discuss possible approaches to the problems you are experiencing. If my suggestions peak your interest and require some design work, I can provide a quote for that work. If the construction work is substantial, I may be able to give some indication of build costs.

10 Years ago I was made redundant and went self-employed as Reality Building Design. I am fast approaching project number 200. In fact the next person to give me the go ahead gets this number attached to their project!

Redundancy was a tough process to go through and I would not wish it on anyoine, but I would not have this business and this life without it.

"the price of your new life is your old life" as they say, so I offer gratititude for that process and what it taught me.

It's been tough at times, but I have been involved in some very cool projects and won some awards too. My business has diversified into areas I could not have suspected when I started out.

Moving out of my home office to the Red Brick Building, Glastonbury after 5 years transformed the business and my life in many ways and I am forever grateful for the opportunity , diversions and projects it provides.

Here's to the next ten years, I can't wait to see what they hold in store for me!
