Is safety a priority in your evolving battery technology strategy? Enhance protection during thermal runaway with ContraFlame® F40 and its controlled venting capabilities.

F40 is AIS’ advanced rebound protection foam, engineered specifically for high energy density cylindrical and prismatic battery cells. In the event of thermal runaway, the material enables controlled venting by allowing hot gases and particles to evacuate safely, whilst shielding neighbouring cells from rebounding particles.

Designed to withstand temperatures exceeding 1200 °C, F40 rapidly forms a durable protective char that resists erosion from high velocity gases while continuing to insulate surrounding components.

Tested extensively in-house, ContraFlame® F40 enables manufacturers to meet the growing demands of next-generation EV battery safety.

Battery technology is evolving rapidly.

From high-voltage EV battery packs to advanced aerospace energy systems, manufacturers are pushing the limits of performance, energy density and efficiency.

To keep pace, testing must evolve too.

AIS combines advanced testing technology with materials innovation, allowing us to do more than validate batteries, we help improve them.

Our facility provides:
• Real-world simulation of battery failure scenarios
• Advanced climatic and lifecycle testing
• Thermal management and propagation analysis
• Development of anti-propagation and fire protection materials

This unique integration of material development and testing capability allows rapid iteration of battery protection solutions, accelerating product development cycles.

Our consultancy and testing services also help manufacturers meet global regulatory standards including UN38.3, UL2580, IEC 62619 and ISO 12405, supporting safe deployment across global markets.

By combining innovation, testing expertise and certification capability, AIS enables customers to develop battery systems that are not only more powerful, but safer.

Earlier this week, CRP Subsea was represented at the University of Lancashire’s annual Engineering Expo by Andrew Dirzu, Junior Design Engineer and former University of Lancashire student.

Andrew was invited to return to the university as an industry judge, reviewing and grading Masters-level student groups presenting their final engineering projects.

As the only subsea company represented at the event, it was a fantastic opportunity to showcase both CRP Subsea and AIS within the Lancashire engineering community. The level of interest from students, academics and fellow industry professionals highlighted the growing curiosity around subsea engineering and the work we do.

A great opportunity to connect with future engineers and strengthen our presence in the region.
