Achillieas - just a splash of tangerine & yellow highlights any pot. Thorough enjoyed my 5hr gardening today. Simply following the shade and lots to do. πŸ™πŸŒΎπŸŒ΄

The peony party is officially over. A good rainstorm has rolled through, and now they're likely just an exhausted, sprawling green mess flat on the grass. It is incredibly tempting to just hack the whole bedraggled lot down to the dirt and be done with it. Believe me, I know the urge. Don't do it. If you chop those floppy green leaves right now, you are quietly sabotaging next spring's blooms. But leaving them exactly as they are isn't the answer either. There is a specific way to clean them up once the petals drop, an exact spot where your pruners need to stop, and one genuinely painful (if slightly embarrassing) mistake involving a hori-hori garden knife that I have learned the hard way so you don't have to. Leave the exasperation in the shed. Grab a sunhat and some clean shears. Let's get these tired plants sorted out for next year.

Gardening in Billingshurst today. Following the shade and stopping sensibly for 5min water break. So peaceful. Radio playing next door, dogs sleeping on cool tile floor & lots of GE to eradicate. It's so much cooler now: rained here too earlier. πŸ™

I've made the decision to not work today or tomorrow; I love the sunny weather yet yesterday's intrepid quest of 4 hours, 2 x school runs in Stanley workhorse with no air con has brought wheezing back. I'm awaiting puffers from my lung consultant so hoping those arrive sooner than later. I will catch up but not this week. Back out Thursday onwards at a slower pace.

Thank you for being understanding πŸ™πŸŒΎπŸŒ΄β˜€οΈπŸŒ§

I'm working today as I can. Visited my elderly gardening client and we put world to rights over tea and an hours weeding. Then back to HQGH near Hascombe; working in the shade & I've all afternoon to garden 4 hours. I'm in no rush. No explanation.

I'm content and feeling a darn sight better than I was in June 2024 & June 2025!

A lush garden of green growing in harmony with spots of colour and awaiting the arrival of the white of Echinacia, blackberries, and crab apples. Hints of lavender & rosemary wafting through with a slight breeze and the feeling of dripping droplets of water πŸ’§ πŸ’§ πŸ’§ inside my shirt. I've water, provisions, and contentment.

I'm sitting in the shade and can hear soft tones of children playing, a garden being mowed and birds occasionally singing. Long sleeved up here as the pond lends itself to the buzzing insects that like to bite me 🀣.

What a beautiful day for Summer Solstice β˜€οΈ
