‼️What Happens to a Lawn Without Water‼️

With the current heatwave and temporary hosepipe restrictions now affecting much of our region, I simply wanted to take a few moments to reassure everyone whose lawn we care for.

Many of you will understandably be looking out at your lawns and wondering what happens next. The simple answer is: please don’t worry.

Of course your lawn needs water to flourish, but without it, your lawn has it’s own natural mechanism to survive. Will it look lush and green? I’m afraid not! But it will go dormant, shut down and turn yellow and brown. This is to conserve energy to keep the crown and roots alive. It should be able to cope in this state for 6-8 weeks and wait for moisture to return.

My focus from here will be to protect the lawn through this stress period and to ensure everything is in place so that when rain does return, your lawn will bounce back quickly.

Your Lawn Does Need A Hydration Break!! 💦

In this heat, your lawn will require watering regularly. It will need 45-60mins of water in each area 2-3 times per week. Please water at the coolest part of the day (early morning or late evening) and raise the height of the cut ✂️ on your mower.

🌱 Quick Tip:
Why not use the referee’s whistle to help time ⏰ your watering; Kick Off, Half Time and Full Time would fit perfectly for moving your Sprinkler.

It’s amazing to see the results of our Spring Lawn Renovations. The weather hasn’t been ideal and has relied on customers diligently watering their lawns.

However, the recent rainfall has really helped the lawns to become the envy of the neighbourhood!

What a great explanation from our friend Mark, The Lawnologist.

People often neglect to mow their lawn when the dry weather slows growth. This allows the seed stems to reach deeper for the moisture and stand taller to disperse seeds.

Keep on mowing on a high setting!! And don’t forget to water deeply, a couple of times a week, if there’s no rain.

It’s Bank Holiday and it’s sweltering! With temperatures in excess of 30 degrees, watering your lawn is a must if you want it to stay green and healthy.

💧Water 2-3 times per week.
💧Water deeply, 45-60mins on each section.
💧Water in the late evening or early morning to avoid evaporation.
❌ Don’t mow short as the greater the surface area of the plant the better it will retain the moisture.
❓Ask your local lawn care specialist about granular wetting agents to help your water go further.
