It’s the big question so many London families wrestle with when space starts getting tight. Packing up, paying stamp duty, and leaving a neighbourhood you love often feels like too much, especially when the answer is right out the back door.

For this semi-detached house over in Greenwich, adding a rear extension was all about bringing the garden into the main living space. We built out with warm red brickwork, laid a pitch-tiled roof, and installed black Crittall-style doors and windows that flood the new kitchen and dining area with daylight.

By pushing out into the garden, the family gained a spacious open-plan hub for cooking, eating, and relaxing together, without the headache of moving home.
