An interesting one discovered while doing a Ecology survey today at a site in Stansted, Essex.

A fairly unusual find of such a large dead Oak Veteren with huge concrete cavity fillings in a woodland setting.. 👀

What a mecca for wildlife ❤️

Nice afternoon jobby today for Ben and myself working for a local farmer dealing with this large split out Willow while the rest of the guys were on one of our Council contracts.

The MEWP made a tricky job easy as usual 🙌👌

A rather large TPO Beech safely felled today at a Cambridge College.
Unfortunately the tree was in decline and had severe Meripilus Fungus attacking the root system. We did a detailed Arbotom and Resistograph survey of the tree along with airspading around the root system to enable us to test the buttresss for decay.

Due to its proximity to a heavy footfall and vehicle traffic area at the entrance to the College the decision to remove was made.

After a relaxed 9am start, 4.5 hours later it was down, chipped, timber loaded in the trailer and stump ground out 💪💪.

Having the right kit and guys onsite makes light work of even the biggest jobs 🙌.

Good work by the guys today reducing this TPO'd Beech in Bishops Stortford.

I last climbed and reduced this tree around 15yrs ago and its not needed any work since.
A sensitive reduction of around 1.5m will hopefully see it last another decade or so.. maybe we'll be lucky enough to work on it again sometime during the late 2030's or even early 2040! 🙌🙂

Less is more with most species of tree and many people don't get this..
The more you cut it the more vigorously it can grow...

Teamwork makes dreamwork 🤩.

Large Cedar craned out today in Chelmsford for one of our Insurance Company contracts. Unfortunately this beautiful tree was condemned to be felled due to causing bad subsidence on two properties. We initially looked at this job over a year ago and has taken all this time to be agreed between the Insurance firms, homeowners and the City Council.

Thanks to for bringing their lorry to do the heavy lifting and for Bill for doing a top job slinging and cutting.
Good team work all round with thee rest of our guys on the ground dealing with all the debris in double quick time.
Tree was de-limbed and chipped up in 2 hours with the 14t trailer full of chip processed using our 18" Arbmax D45..

Quick tea break then onto the main stem. Site cleaned up and new Holly tree planted to get off site by 2.30pm 🤙

A large TPO Oak we carried out a heavy reduction on today.
The tree had a large area of decay at base of the trunk along with several substantial Ganoderma brackets along with major die back in the upper crown. Further investigation showed a relative strength loss of around 18% in the trunk with the Arbotom, which for an Oak is tolerable, but we also found the buttresses to be decaying badly when tested with the Resistograph Drill. The decision was made between us, the Town Council and the District Council to heavily reduce the tree and encourage it to carry on re-trenching and continue to be a good habitat for wildlife whilst mitigating the risk to nearby properties..

Nice new Klou grab fitted today on our TB230 👌.. Replacing our old Tiger Grip. Seems a brilliant bit of kit...with 25mm thick HD tines, over the TGs 15mm, 5.5t rotator over the 4.4t on the TG, hidden hoses and with a larger ram plus the nice addition of a check valve.. ✔️

Will be put to the test next week 💪.

A couple of this weeks jobs so far.

A long line of large and very dead roadside trees safely felled and stacked on Monday under a full road closure. Couldn't have gone better, great teamwork and all wrapped up by 4pm with timber and brash stacked for the farming client to deal with at their leisure..

Then yesterday myself and Steve were out with the Mog and Tachuchi TB230 moving a load of timber from a site we cleared before Xmas.
Meanwhile the guys have been busy at a Cambridge college yesterday and today doing remedial works after a recent Arb Report we carried out.

2026 is looking set to be a busy one 🤙💪
