Its not just humans and animals that are affected by the heat. doors and windows are too.
Lubricants can dry out and seize locks and direct heat on a door or window can cause it or its frame to swell.
Sometimes its simple as waiting for the door to cool down as the sun moves round. Unfortunately, sometimes a mechanical part needs replacing.

One moment it feels like Spring has arrived, the next it feels like we're back in Winter. BUT its definitely that time where we start looking forward to warmer weather and doing things outdoors.
In preparation we start cleaning off drives and patios, I've even heard a few lawnmowers. Something thats not always considered is that the locks on the shed and the patio doors may not have been opened for some time. Did the key get put in its normal place - if not where is it?

Locks and door and window mechanisms will all benefit from a spring clean. Damp and dust may have got into the lock affecting the moving parts. Lack of use can make those moving parts seize up.
The additional rain over the winter may have caused doors and windows to swell or warp.
Unfortunately at times of financial squeeze there is usually an increase in burglaries, so it might be a good time to improve your security either at home or work. Make sure your locks are insurance approved and make it as dificult as possible for opportunistic thieves to break in.

Locksmith Life...
Yesterday we received a website enquiry form from someone who was locked out. Tim called them straightaway but there was no answer and they didn't respond to his voicemail. Meaning that although he was available to help - he couldn't.

If you are locked out (or in), please call us rather than messaging. We need information about the problem and most importantly the address. Most customers in this situation want to get the door open ASAP so there is often some urgency. A call allows us to get on the way quickly.
We understand that not everyone is comfortable talking on the phone, but it’s not possible to respond to an enquiry form when driving or working with a customer.
