E.E Green was established in 1928 by Ernest Edward Green at 12 Church Road, Gorleston, which was to become the family home. He, along with wife Arley, worked long and hard to build up the business. The business at that time dealt mainly in timber and haulage, producing fence panels and kindling for the fire. At that time there were not any lorry, so everything had to be moved by Horse and Cart and
in 1939 when the war broke out, Ernie was given the task of delivering vital Admiralty supplies to assist the war effort. In 1936 a son was born, John Edward Green, and as a young man he embarked on an apprenticeship at Juby Bros as a carpenter. After a short spell in the army, he joined his family business in 1958. John put all his energy into persuading his father to change from horse power to engine power, to no avail. So in 1968, he bought his first second-hand digger for Β£300, and it was then when E.E. Green & Son Plant Hire was born. Sadly John Green passed away in 2008, however, the business has continued to thrive with his son, Phillip, continuing in his footsteps. The business has thrived over the years, expanding and acquiring many items of plant, including specialist items such as a concrete crusher. The company also acquired several different sites, including Priory Farm Restaurant and Browston Pit. E E Green purchased Folkes Plant and Aggregates based in Burgh Castle and L G Perfect MOT/Repairs for Cars/Vans/HGV`s based at Harfrey`s Industrial Estate in Great Yarmouth. Both businesses are operated as a separate businesses, however, we can multi service clients and customers who require all of our services. Philip`s daughter, Faye, has also recently joined the businesses.
